I think this Lm belonged to a famous marine artist Christian Reese Lassen at one time?
The same guy that painted the Lamborghini Diablo SE purple metallic dolphin car, I think?

Yeah, unless there are 2 painted with that paint it was Lassen's.

I've seen it in person, the paint is subject to taste, but it is well done, and it's one of the nicest LM's I've ever seen.

It truly is a first Cousin of the H1, with the shared grandparent being the Cheetah, but the development time line of of the LM002 makes it a just slightly younger cousin of the HMMWV.

 

Since I own a Countach I know what maintenance will be on one of these

So does the Porsche Cayenne Turbo take the place of the LM002 these days or something else ?

 

A little correction here...Countach likeness was with the Regular LM002

This is a LM002 America...came with the Diablo FI motor...totaly differnt with more HP as well...

 

So the LM002a has the 5.7L motor instead of the countach 5.2?

 

The LM America has the 5.2 motor just like the regular LM, but they put the heads and FI system on it that was developed for the Diablo since there was overlap between the end of the LM and start of the Diablo, so all parts are the same except for the heads the FI system....same cams, same pistons, same block, same compression ratio, same crank, etc..... Horsepower did not change. So, in my book, it is like comparing a FI Countach to a DD. Some may disagree, but I like the DD one better. I have timed them both through the same RPM range in the same gear and found the carbed LM slightly faster. I prefer the carbed one for the same reasons I prefer DD Countachs, but I will offer that the Diablo FI system is better than the Bosch. But I prefer the instantaneous throttle response from carbs, and the induction sounds, and the looks, etc if you take the plenum off and put a K&N on top of the carbs.....easy to do and looks amazing!! So, I guess one can say the FI version is lower maintenance, but to me, the carbed LMs are cooler, sound better, and are a tad quicker. This is just my opinion other that the facts stated in the first sentence.
