Michael Schumacher hit out at Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton after qualifying in Melbourne - accusing his fellow world champions of blocking him.

Schumacher made a point of discussing the matter with Alonso in parc ferme, and also approached FIA representative Charlie Whiting to ask for a rules clarification.

"Basically on my last try, I was slowed down by him," said Schumacher when asked why he had approached Alonso.

"I asked him whether the team had told him, and he said 'no'.

"It's difficult in a way because he's on his in-lap and worrying about other things other than watching the mirror, but saying that, we had this chat yesterday in the drivers' briefing - that care should be taken about this - and he was one of the main guys [talking] about it.

"I had a conversation with Charlie about this as well, because I need to know what is the reference, what are the guidelines here, what are the rules?

"Because if the rules have changed a little bit to what they used to be, I need to know what you would be okay with, and what not.

"I had a similar issue with Lewis, that he was preparing his lap and blocking me in a way, which is not very nice."

But Schumacher's team boss Ross Brawn played down the row.

"I think it was a little bit messy," he said.

"Everyone was out there trying to stay out of each other's way, and allow other people to do laps.

"Because the cars needed to do so many laps to get the tyres working, there were a lot more cars on the track for a lot longer.

    "No big controversy."

He said he could understand Schumacher's frustration but doubted he was being singled out by his younger rivals.

"I think Michael wasn't very happy at qualifying where he was, and there's a lot of traffic out there," Brawn mused.

"I don't think anyone was maliciously trying to stop anyone doing another lap, just trying to make a judgement call on how quick you need to go with someone behind you is not easy.

"I think there needs to be a certain tolerance, but people also need reminding if they've spoilt someone's lap."

What ever underhand dirty tricks the young guns have in there bags. I am sure they learnt them from the maestro as they watched him, as they were growing up :D

I'm glad the young guns show no special respect for the red helmet.

    The excuses are piling up:
Bahrain: couldn't find a proper setup
    Melbourne: getting blocked

After parking his car on the track during Monaco qualifying a few years ago, MS has no standing to complain, IMO.

LOL! Do an excuse thread and see if you can post one for every race!

Although not as memorable as your old and awesome "Fare from the host country" thread, it could be funny! :):)

Like Dracula complaining about his rivals biting.

Oh and notice how he just happens to complain about the two top guns....not Chandhok or Di Grassi for example...

jeez you really don't like Schuey.

I agree there should be no special treatment given, but for Schuey or any driver for that matter to find it necessary to speak with another driver regarding an incident proves at least something was awry. People don't argue and fight about nothing just for the sake of stirring stuff up.

    hey thanks guys!

I am not Schuey's back-stage lover, but I do think he and Brawn brought Ferrari out of the dark-ages and then he was served a raw plate of sewage by Ferrari when it was done and over with. No biggie, I love both.

I suspect a bit of mind games involved here too, only now the young turks are having none of it. MS can forget about them having respect for him.

In what way? Brawn was offered Jean Todt's previous role at Ferrari, but stated he wanted to return to the UK, and therefore turned it down ( Schumi was also offered the same job, but also turned it down).

No matter if you hate or love the guy he DOES have 7 world titles. Reminds me of when Pete Sampras was playing tennis and winning everything as he was also accused of bad manners and sportsmanship. It takes someone/ something special to accomplish what they have.

The dirtiest driver ever in F1, has more class than Alonso? Don't make me laugh. I hope Alonso and Hamilton mop up the track with him like they've been doing. You have a very short memory.

What we have here is a failure to communicate. Schumi speaks German, not French. In German, "parc ferme'" means "Ferrari parking allowed on the track during qualifying."

This is the only explanation for his actions at Monaco. But he should have no case against Alonso blocking him during qualifying because Alonso was driving a Ferrari and just availing himself of the German translation of the parc ferme' rule. Please note that blocking is just parking in motion.

Thus, Schumi does have a case against Hami who was not driving a Ferrari. Hami should obviouly be disqualified or start from the back of the grid. Can he start any farther back than he already is? LOL

    Parc Ferme' Tifosi!

(this post is meant in jest. Any anal retentive Fchatter who wants to take this personally and go to nuclear war over this post should go sit in a cold dark room until the feeling goes away.)

Right. The guy who parks his car in Rascasse and denies it. The guy who is willing to push his team mate into the concrete wall. The guy who is willing to push his own brother into the concrete wall. The guy who won his first title crashing into his opponent. The guy who was stripped of all his points from one year.

    A real class act.

You don't need WDCs to beat MS anymore. His teammate, who is not very respected on here, manages to do that just fine.
