have to say, WG's version of the grid walk was an absolute disaster. of course many drivers were absent but that wasn't the problem for WG. just goes to show how hard it actually is.

i do like that he gets comments from drivers that are out of the race early. i don't recall PW ever doing that.

At least WG doesn't walk up to him, quickly say good luck, then storm off like PW did most of the time. lol

The grid walk itself has never been that good IMO.

Lol; I was thinking the same thing. Interviewing a grid girl about her outfit????? WTF
if Windsor did that this thread would be over 20 pages long...

i thought that was fine. at least we got a friendly hello from the driver, and while nothing really informative happens you get to see the driver's state of mind just before the start. are they content with their starting position? do they feel the car is going to perform well enough to make up a few positions early on? not in so many words but you get a general impression.

are you seriously putting WG's grid walk at a higher level than PW's?

WG to Sutil: Hey whose car is that that just went by? Oh are you still here?
WG to RB: Hey loser, how does it feel to be midpack? No really you kind of suck don't you? [RB storms off]

And with Bernie's new rule clearing the grid, there wasn't much of anyone else to talk to. ;)

Just wait until the warmer races. Interviewing some of the grid girls about their outfits then might not be so bad. :p

WG is definitelty not an improvement over PW in my opinion.

When WG peaked under an umbrella and commented "no one under there..."

I said to my wife,... why didn't he peak under that nice young lady's dress? :D

+1. Must be someone's nephew...

I don't like anyone's grid walk. I like Martin Brundle's race commentary, but I loathe his gridwalk. I'm not interested in watching a guy bully his way in front of "lesser" commentators from "lesser" broadcast stations to talk to a driver who isn't going to say anything we haven't heard since qualifying.

IMO, I'd rather like to see the grid walk exchanged for short interview with the Stewards for that meeting.

That's probably the plan, later in the evening. (Why do you think he was chatting her up? ;))

Or anything, other than being a pest when the drivers are getting their heads into the race.

The answer to just about every question, 15 minutes before the race, should be, "Ask me in two hours". ;)

It was awful. RB looked at the guy like he'd just been asked the most stupid question ever.

Yeah, but it's Boobens, he annoyed me all weekend with his complaints about traffic and what not. He complains way too much, rememeber his blah blah comments last year? This guy is a waste and has been in far too many GPs.

I still don't understand Bernie's whole grid clearing thing either...

Meh, cut WG some slack...he's just starting plus there wasn't anyone there to interview, he was looking around but then said **** it and sent it back to the commentating crew. Also, he seems like a pretty good guy and I'll take that any day over the joke Windsor.

Umm, did you see the cans on that chick? And he got her to lean forward! She was stacked. I thought it was WG's finest moment of the season, so far!

PW did everything he could to ignore the grid girls while Jean-Michelle tried to put them in every shot.

Next WG is going to do interviews with them.
    "What are your turn-ons ?" ;)

Better than Bernie and Flavio drivel.

I love seeing Brundle's grid walks. He's the anti-Briton almost. Barging his way through men holding a microphone on a stick, when others like the Germans nicely wait for their turn...and then little MB shoves his microphone under their nose and asks some questions, before running off just when the German infantry is about to attack. Absolutely hilarious :D

The pit walk is a foolish idea. "Hey let's interview people at the worst possible time and annoy the heck out of them" Interviewing her chest was the best use of time. I say "Bring on more".

Exactly. I HATE the grid walk, but if they went down the line showing the grid girls and asking them inane questions like what turns them on, that would be infinitely more appealing than asking Hamilton what he thinks of starting in P11 (what do you think he thinks?) or asking Vettel if he is upset about his breakdown last week (do you think he's upset?). Besides, they never get to talk to the top drivers - IIRC they are not allowed to talk to Ferrari/McLaren/Benz so what's the point?

    Bring on the grid girls!

Their predictions and comments can't be any lamer than what we get from the experts and they bring a fresh err.. umm... perspective.

Just changed the channel after the St Pete Indycar race to Speed, expecting the Martinsville race, and saw the infamous pit-girl interview. It seemed kinda spontaneous. Her outfit could have had some bearing on catching WG's attention. Can someone capture a still off of the video and post a picture of her?

i thought at Bahrain the Speed crew (Varsha i think) mentioned WG was just filling in for someone else.... not that i think the 'bad' pitwalk was his fault really...

i'm with a bunch of the folks that say the grid girl interview was refreshing.... i was watching the race with my dad and i actually said out loud, "holy cr*p, he is interviewing a grid girl".... dad gave her outfit a thumbs down, i gave it a thumbs up...

i think he should pick a girl to interview at each race... a little local flavor... nothing wrong with that!!

i'm also for someone posting a screen capture...
