Pedal Upgrades - Do they perform better

I had them on my 328 GTS when I bought it - but removed them as non-original.
Other than the pedals are a TAD more "slippery" without the pedal covers, I don't
notice any difference and have gotten by just fine for over 2 years now. And yes,
my pedals are a bid worn - but I really can't say the Hill Engineering pedals made
really ANY meaningful difference. I think it's just a "look" think, IMO. But I didn't
care for the look.

My car came with drilled pedals. I can take photographs and post them here if you want to see them. I kind of like the look they have.

My car also came with a Tubi that sounds pretty freaking amazing. I know you asked about that in another thread. I can try to take some video and post it or email it so you can see what thats like. In tunnels I really do become an F1 God!!!

+1 Looks Boy Racer and out of place on these cars to me (308/328). Kind of like carbon fiber...

I suspect new rubber pedal covers can be found and probably not crazy expensive.

I didn't even really see the need. I mean, they're pedals - they're on the floor - who
really LOOKS at them? With the "boy racer" pedals, yes. But stock, no. And as I said,
there's no noticeable difference.

They do feel marginally better. And my foot doesn't slip off of them as much as it does with the stock rubber ones. See if one of your fellow NC tifosi will let you experience it for yourself. Then decide. I've used my car both ways and i wouldn't go back to the rubber unless i was looking at concouring the car again.

 

Hill pedals was one of the first things I bought and put on my 308. Might have had something to do with the delivery driver's foot slipping off the clutch while he was unloading the car and ramming my drivers door into the inside of his truck. Then again maybe it was just cause I liked that "boy racer" look!?

 

Two years ago they were $6 each from allferrariparts.com. You can replace them annually at that!

 

I have Ultimate clutch, brake, gas and dead pedals on the way, along with black rubber mats from AutoSport.

Along with my Tubi exhaust, slickshift gate, billet shift knob, and retro-308 steering wheel, boy racer, yes; more fun, also yes.

 

If anything, they are more annoying to drive. I usually drive bare-footed (to get a better feel for what I am doing with my feet, yeah, I know...), and the anti-slip of the clutch pedal really starts to hurt after a while....

Other than that, no difference in driving. So unless you like the "racy" look, don't bother...

 

I thought the pedal change interval was every three years....now its annually??? WTF???

I put drilled pedals on mine a few years ago. Main reason was they gave me more room in between them. They are a little bit smaller. My feet are rather wide and my right foot rubbed on the brake pedal. I only had one pair of shoes that cleared. I don't care if they are not 100% correct. It's my car. I can also take them off very easy if I want. It is kind of like wheels. A personal thing.

I like the boy racer comment too... we drive one of the most recognizable high profile "LOOK AT ME" type cars out there and we're worried that our pedals are too boy racer? I can't make this stuff up.

 

I could be wrong but I think driving barefoot is illegal in many states over here.... plus... I dunno how hot a gt4 gets under that dash but there is no way I could drive my car for extended periods without shoes... my feet would stick to the pedals!

Totally concur. I replaced the stock pedals with drilled and much prefer their feel to oem.

Related to this, when I bought by 328 my daughter asked me if I was going to put a vanity plate on it (never much cared for them). I said, "No, I don't want to call any attention to myself." She literally fell over laughing. "Dad," she said "You're driving a red Ferrari and you think the license plate is what would call attention to you?"

 

I searched a number of vendors to try to find a gas pedal with the lower left extension towards the brake pedal, see picture.

This now allows me to keep my right heel on the throttle as I use the toes of the right foot to break.

So, yes, it is more than a "cosmetic" improvement.

If it were not for this feature, I might not have bothered at all.

Wish I would have thought of that when I put mine in. Love that gas pedal.

 

I personally like the "boy racer look"; furthermore, I guess Ferrari does too because most of the models produced within the past fifteen years are equipped with them.

 

Hey that's pretty cool! Where did you get that?

 

We just installed a set of Hill pedals from Ricambi and love them. The grip on the brake is much safer, especially when heel-toeing. We also bought the extra wide gas pedal which helps because I am not limber enough to heel-toe per se. Instead I roll my foot to the right to catch the gas. I highly recommend them and although not original they look like they should have been there in the first place. These pedals are not boy racer IMO. They are Ferrari all the way.

P.S. Spring for the dead pedal also. I didn't at first and ended up ordering it separately.

 

I also opted for the drilled pedals. Liked the looks and didn't really make any difference in driving. I epoxy mine in so it can be removed later, with some effort, without any evidence of drilling. It's also way easier than drilling! I like Dave's pedals for heel-to-toe but I don't really like the looks of the gas pedal being that big. Function over form, I guess.

My 328 had the drilled 355 pedals when I bought it. I had the original pedal covers in the boot. I wouldn't have changed them if they had been original when I bought the car, but I didn't mind the look.

Mine won several concours even with the 355 drilled pedals installed. I'm sure I lost a point or some fraction for that.

But they do wear well, clean up nicely and afford a good grip for any shoe I was wearing.

 

At a concours event last year a judge knocked me 1/2 point for EACH non-original pedal.
