Just heard that a UGR built Twin Turbo Gallardo has just broken the 250mph barrier in the standing mile at The Texas Mile event! There are other cars still to run, but breaking the barrier is UGR's!!

    Speed was 250.1mph

Wow! Word gets out fast. I was there yesterday and saw two UR TT cars. Both took a leisurely shake down run (more or less). Afterward the UR crew could be seen tuning them up and preparing them for some apparent record smashing. Well done!

The record car was the orange SL I believe, also an E-gear car. Shows you that the Gallardo is the big, bad doggie when it comes to a platform to modify.

Heffner was not far behind with a 249.7mph on a TT Ford GT...

First at texas but a Ford GT went 250+ in Florida a couple weeks back and still holds the record. With that said I love both of the cars and its fantastic to see UGR guys out there and having the car owners racing them.

My bad, I hadn't heard that. Here's hoping the GTT's can take the record next month!

What are they doing for the gearing in these cars. Are they just swapping the gears for the event or run new gearing on the street all the time.

My understanding is the transmissions have a host of mods to them. The transmission's ratios are up geared and actually makes the tt cars a lot more tractable in nature on the streets. The UGR cars were full weight and the drivers were relaxing in the lengthy lines to run with the a/c blowing and the radio playing. Pretty crazy stuff.

I've read that the owner of the orange SL that went 250 had never driven the car prior to the event, nor had he driven any Gallardo! He just got in and went 200+ on his first run!

    Amazing.

I have never driven anything that felt as solidly planted as a Gallardo at speed. Of course, I have never driven anything anywhere near that fast either.

Thanks for all the compliments. I'm very proud of the entire Underground Racing team for what we accomplished!! Jonah and Richard did outstanding jobs driving these monsters!! These Underground Racing Lamborghini Gallardo's are 100% street cars with nothing removed! It was a lot of work and long hours to get these cars prepared along with our normal work load at the Underground Racing shops.

We were experimenting with different turbos and set ups the first couple of days at the mile on both Gallardos. Saturday evening we started getting them prepared for Sunday and decided to get them ready for attack mode as the Supra's and Ford GT's were getting faster by the run. We never got any completely clean runs but were still able to put down 240, 249 and 250 mph passes. We learned a lot, and we will be much more prepared at the next Mile event. I can't wait to see what these Gallardos do on a concrete runway!

    Video coming soon

Congrats UGR... 250+ mph in the standing mile is no joke. It's hard to put into perspective how much power, aerodynamic efficiency, and the huge BALLZ it takes to do what you do. Achieving the record pass with an E-gear is truly an amazing feat in itself. Just to give you an idea of what is needed to go 250 mph in the standing mile, lets take the Veyron with 1000hp as a baseline. It takes a proving ground circuit with banked corners for the Veyron to reach 250+ at the end of a 4 mile long stretch. It also needs to come out of the banking at 170 mph to reach its top speed at the end of the 4 mile stretch. These cars at the Texas mile are going just as fast from a STANDING MILE.

I'm a long time supporter of the Supra camp and once thought they would rule the mile racing circuit for a long time, but times have changed and the Lambo is the new king (can't forget about the TT Fort GT, hats off to them). The way I see it, there's about 8 cars that can really fight for the standing mile record. Each one of them has a legitimate chance of taking the record on any giving day. Six of these cars have 240+ mph, with the other two going at least 230+ mph. Should be an exciting event at the Miami run next month and then back to Texas in October, good luck to all competitors and be safe out there

    They are:
    1. Orange UGR TT Lambo (Richard's)
    2. Orange UGR TT Lambo (Jonah's)
    3. Black UGR TT Lambo (Jonah's)
    4. Yellow Heffner TT Ford GT
    5. Performance Power Racing TT Ford GT (custom gearbox, 1800hp, fully built engine)
    6. Autobanh single turbo Supra (stock trans, 3.4L, 1500hp, stock gearing)
    7. Cody Phillips single turbo Supra (stock trans, 3.4L, 1400hp, stock gearing)
    8. Boost Logic single turbo Supra (SW's) (3.4L, 1400hp, Ford 9" rear, custom gearing)

Shame they couldn't do a run while I was there on saturday.
Still a pretty nice event, the 190mph golf and ridiculous 261mph busa were interesting

p.s. all I wanted was a picture or two, guess you didn't want your secret alien technology to become known :(
