Does anyone know if this was a factory installed option on the 1972 Ghibli? It a Voxon Stereo 8. I'm not sure if a dealer might have installed this or not but it's integrated very nicely.

    Ciao Walter,

I got information from someone in the police department who has access to the files. The car was in Kanton Solothurn (4565 Recherswil) in the hands of its former owner, born 1930 until now, so that I'm the second owner. The car is first registered 06.1968 and there's no record of colour change so that -at least- it has always been blue. It has 127'000 kms and has passed inspection as Veteranfahrzeug this month so that next technical control will be in 6 years. The body is in very very straight shape, the panels alignments are excellent and no welding underneath. The paint has been done at least once but is old and will need refinish. The interior appears all original with original leather everywhere as well as original carpets. The seats have been once re-coloured but are now somehow tired so I'll try to save as much as possible but the seats will have to be probably done. I have a nice period Becker radio that will be prefect in there as well. The rest is allright, mechanically tip-top and freshly serviced. Just need to put it right cosmetically and enjoy it for the summer ! I'm glad to be back into V8 Maserati world, I've been missing both my previous Mexico and Kyalami.

    Some pictures "as is" :

The tape deck is listed as an option on the dealer price list. I thought they were dealer installed but yours looks like it was done at the factory. That 8 track tape deck was almost as expensive as the Borrani wire wheels!!

I am in the market for a nice Ghibli now and was wondering if anyone here has both a Ghibli and maybe a front engine Ferrari to compare driving dynamics? Also does the Ghibli have the Citroen hydraulics?

The Ferrari Daytona is the much faster car in Top-speed. The Ghibli has much more torque in low revs.
No, the Ghibli doesn`t have that Citroen-stuff! The Khamsin is filled up with the "Green Soup"!...::))

    Ciao!

My Car is the 72 Ghibli SS at the very beginning of this thread. Its metallic silver-blue.

Have you seen another Ghibli with this 8-track option?

Yes, the green 1967 "4.9 Coupe Special" that sold at Worldwide's Auburn auction in 2008.

There were many special order items on that car but it was my impression that the 8 track was a dealer installed option. The car was imported from the west coast; the dealers name escapes me at the moment.

There was a redundant stereo in place on the dash ahead of the shifter.

Sorry, no direct photos of the rear console installation.

This 4.9-liter Spyder was sold last week for a 6-figure amount that started with a 3.

I had 4 very motivated buyers and the 2nd last made an offer that could not accepted. After the car was finally sold -2 days later- the 2nd last bidder moved on to increase his offer for 60,000 Euros to the new owner who decided to keep aquisition!

    Ciao!

I wonder if he will regret that decision when it comes time to sell? Only time will tell. Impressive price.

With the Euro dropping like a stone, it will probably find its way to the US in a few years.

Its one of the very rare early versions with its "long" rear hood and the knock-off`s!

This is what I have about this car.
