Greetings fellow F355/348 Section members: As many of you already know, our very own Neurobeaker (a.k.a. Andrew) will be leaving behind the glories of bachelorhood this early April to marry his lovely fiancée, Nicky. I am sure I'm not alone in my appreciation of the contributions Andrew makes to FChat and I am proud to call him my friend. IMHO, it's also extremely important to note that Andrew and Nicky are bearing the entire burden of paying for the wedding and reception themselves. Certainly not an easy task for a young couple just starting out together. Andrew is currently completing his Ph.D. at the University of Glasgow in neurochemistry and neurophysiology. I have absolutely no doubt that, in the very near future, he is going to be an extremely important and prolific scientist in his field and I consider myself fortunate to have gotten to know him through this forum. As someone who has experienced the "joys" of trying to live (albeit at almost the poverty level) on a Ph.D. Teaching or Research Assistant stipend, I was hoping that we, the FerrariChat community, might band together and help our good friend celebrate his upcoming nuptials. At the risk of sounding corny and trite, a small gift can really go a long way in helping these newlyweds to start their lives together with a positive, rather than negative bank balance. I must admit that in order to obtain Andrew's permission to start this Thread, I had to plead, cajole and finally, resort to (long-distance) threats of violence. Finally, I achieved success. Anyone interested may send a card/gift (i.e., $$$ ) to the following address: Nicky Stagg (C/O) Cats Protection Kirkintilloch Adoption Centre Cardyke Farm Langmuirhead Road Auchinloch Kirkintilloch G66 5LD United Kingdom (Scotland) Checks (or cheques, for you Brits who don't know how to spell) may be made payable to: "A. CRAWFORD" Please note, as Andrew and Nicky will be coming to the U.S. for the wedding of Andrew's sister in July, checks drafted in U.S. dollars (rather than British pounds) will not be problematic, nor will any currency conversion fees be charged to EITHER the payee or payor. Moreover, gifts may be sent up until the beginning of July, 2010. Come on guys, I know times are tight for everyone, but many, many of us are extremely fortunate. Accordingly, why don't we show our respect, admiration and happiness for Andrew and Nicky, by sending a small gift to the aforementioned address. For your edification, I have, below, enclosed a current picture of poor, forlorn Andrew hiking the long miles to seek Nicky. To all that respond, my most sincere thanks. Thanks Scott - that's not the most flattering picture of 'me', but I suppose all soon-to-be-ex-bachelors are due a bit of a hazing. * * * * * If I could just make a correction: Although we're paying for the bulk ourselves, we are getting some help from Nicky's dad to pay for the meals and my parents are providing for us stay in the hotel (which also has a spa!) for two nights after the wedding... as a sort of 'mini-moon'. As for everything else, we did have to take out a bank loan in order to make it all happen - but I'm hopeful that won't be too difficult to pay off once I finally submit my thesis and start a real job. * * * * * Anyway... please don't feel obligated to send a cheque and, honestly, Nicky and I would both be thrilled just to receive a simple congratulations card in the mail or a congratulatory post in here. If you'd still like to send a small cheque anyway, we'd be very appreciative, but please don't feel pressured to do it - we both know you're all happy for us with or without sending funds. All the best, Andrew (and Nicky).
Congratulations Andrew and Nicky! Are there any strip clubs close to you that offer gift cards? If so, send me the info and I'll get your bachelor party planned. Just kidding..... I hope all the best for you two in starting your new life together.
Not sure I'd get away with that one... alive. Hehehe Thank you very much, I appreciate the well-wishes!! All the best, Andrew.
Sorry Andrew, I forgot to congratulate you and Nicky.... All the best and wishing you both many happy years ahead. Neil
Congrats Andrew!! I thought we were all going to pitch in to help put a down payment on that much sought after 348 for you
Thanks Mike!! Oooh, that could work too. No idea how I'd afford the rest of the repayments, but I'd find a way! All the best, Andrew.
How about folks chipping in airmiles to fly him over to the F-chat meet in Vegas in August? We could give Neurobeaker a proper bachelor party (even if it is belated).
Not sure what country I'll be in this August - might be in the US anyway. We'll see. All the best, Andrew.
Strangely, I got this in an email, with the note: "Please tell Andrew we will ALL miss him..." No signature... just some kind of... ahhh... cloven hoof print or something? I don't know... Uhhh... not that there's anything wrong with that... I guess.... Mike Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't know...the one on the right front of the photo is pretty hot.... Testshoot may want to set up a photo shoot with that one.... Mike
I thought that was a picture of the bachelor party... I hear they do things a bit differently "over there" lol congratulations... on finishing school and bachelorhood...
Thanks very much everyone, I'm really looking forward to the wedding and seeing Nicky in her bridal dress. Oh, and just to clarify: I'm not planning on having any sheep involved in the bachelor party... unless I have a shepherd's pie for dinner. All the best, Andrew.
