What's the best bluetooth headset can I buy out there? Can anyone recommend a brand as in the best? A friend suggested to get the Jawbone, is this good? Thanks.
The Jawbone is an horrible piece of crap. It works perfectly, but for some reason the designers decided that to protect "your" ears they would place max restrictions on the volume control. This pretty much makes it useless for people like me with minor hearing loss that need to use an bluetooth headset in a car or crowded / noisy place. It also become extremely uncomfortable after 30 minutes of use and no amount of changing the several plugs could create a comfortable fit for me. After using a bunch of different Plantronics equipment, including wired and wireless, my next headset will be a Plantronics, probably this one: http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/products/mobile/bluetooth-headsets/voyager-pro
You really should just go to a store that sells them and try different models out on your own head. It's a personal thing - how they fit and feel is, to me, the biggest criteria. The Jawbone, to me, is PAINFUL to wear. I use a little Motorola unit that flips open and gently hangs on my ear - I forget I even have it on. But my wife hates it - she has a different kind altogether. They're all going to be somewhat limited as to audio volume due to liability issues. In my experience, Motorola makes good headsets with adequate volume. Jedi
zivio has a retractable mic boom so you dont have to yell http://reviews.cnet.com/headsets/joby-zivio-boom/4505-13831_7-33227060.html
I thought yelling (apparently to nobody) is one of the main priorities of using a bluetooth headset. If you don't need to yell, what's the fun? BT
Can any of these cancel out the wind noise while driving in a fairly loud environment. I've used headsets before and had to give up, they were useless. I can hear ok, it's all the wind/etc noise that gets transmitted. My previous Mustang Cobra Conv was bad, but the 348 spider is much worst for noise generation (or better - depending on perspective/intent).
I would just HIGHLY suggest putting one in your ear before committing. For me it was an annoying, borderline painful experience. Jedi
I can put up with pain and agony, even ugliness - if anyone has experience that they actually work as promised?
My $.02, I've tried a bunch of 'em....NONE of them handle wind noise. Most comfortable, best sound quality units I've found are: Sony HBH300 (very hard to find, long since discontinued) Plantronics Voyager Pro Plantronics 975 Plantronics 510 - still around, w a windsock one of the best performers around. I tried the original jawbone; if that little nylon nub is NOT resting on your cheek, it doesn't work. I returned mine. I did try the iCon but preferred my Plantronics units. I tried the BlueAnt and returned it as well. Also tried Jabra and Moto (moto is very convenient with the flip out boom, just really fragile). I would say that everyone's ears and sound perceptions are SO different. Buy several at bestbuy (or any place with a full 30 day refund policy).
