A segment about Mel Spillman is about to be 48 Hours: Hard Evidence in just a few minutes. It's on channel 1623 on Time Warner. The channel is called Investigation Life or something like that. The channel ID is "IDHD".

I don't know much about him but I know he had several Ferraris & I know someone who bought his 348 when it was auctioned off. He lived/lives in San Antonio.

Boy, now there's a story that's been "dead" for years... :)

I'm still new to the Ferrari community & I don't live in San Antonio. I figured the show was new. It was neat to see all of the memorabilia and cars.

I'll have to tell Mel to be on the look out for the show. :)

Interesting, I've always wondered what his collection consisted of.

    I saw a Rosso Corsa 308, Rosso Corsa 348, Rosso Corsa F355, Rosso Corsa F40 & a Nero 348

He had Ferrari memorabilia literally everywhere in his house. He was extremely candid about his actions.

My favorite question was, "Why would one man need 5 Ferraris?" lol... I think most of us could understand why but I guess it's hard for others to understand. :)

They said they he went to races all the time. I'm not sure if they meant driving or viewing, but I think they did show an older formula or Indy car. They just flashed a photo of it for a second but I think it was green... maybe a Lotus?

I'd say there are plenty of things floating around town that used to be in his collection...give a shout to Wes/Steve, they might be able to help...
