    Just got told I have a leak from the crank seal. They are trying to see if there is a way to fix without dropping the engine. Anyone dealt with this before?

    If it's your rear main seal, like Tim said, you have to remove the gearbox to get to the seal, but you do not need to take the engine completely out. 348 brother TheOnlyest just finished pulling his gearbox, because of a bearing failure, and will be changing out the remain seal while he has the gear box out. It took him 5 1/2 hours to remove the gear box.

    There are weep holes on the bottom of the gearbox, right where the tranny mounts to the back of the engine block. If you look under the car and see it leaking from there, then it's more than likely the rear main.

    Rear main seal or the rear cover is leaking. Are we talking 348 or 355? Doesn't really matter but just curious. I just did this on a 355 myself. A big job but not terrible. Those rear main seals are like $550.

    It is the front seal. Engine is coming out for the 2nd time in 18 months.
