Another lousy photoshop just to sell magazines.

Ummm...Car and Driver... one question. Hard Top or soft top? Don't know?... then shut up.

And what's the deal with those awful wheels?

    Those wheels aren't happening.

Hard top/soft top.. good question. Traditionally they've gone soft, but with the Cali's new hardtop I wonder if they will utilize that technology...

    Place your bets

BTW my money is on soft, mostly due to the weight.

Why does everyone keep pulling this one up and referring to it as a 'targa'? It's not a targa, i.e. just centre section removal, it appears to go the whole hog as a spyder would. By the way, for what it's worth, I say this as someone who would prefer a targa.

Considering the hardtop 458 has air intakes right behind the side windows, on the C pillar, it is likely that there will be some sort of C pillar in the design of the spider- which makes the patent application drawings with the sectional hard top seem likely.

Whatever it ultimately looks like, I'm sure it will be better than that big butted C&D photoshop.

Yet far closer to a spyder from the look of that patent drawing so even if you put targa in inverted commas it's still nothing like it. I think people are calling targa simply because there's a centre section where the roof breaks but by the look of it it's a clean deck at the back once fully folded where as targa is center section gone only and everything from C pillar back still there. Which is a way better solution as far as I'm concerned as spyders always look odd to me.

No roll hoops? Perhaps they're retractable? Surely DOT will require them in one fashion or another.

I'm hoping that they will be retractable, like those on the Gallardo Spyder.

I think the finished product will please most of us.This is too important a decission to screw it up.The California was part of the learning curve(I hope) and should help them get it right. If they do we will all want it(and unfortunately at the same time). This is what they do,right?

I think you make a good point. The 458 spider will probably be their best seller for the next 4 years. I'm sure the pressure is on to get it right for that reason.
