How often do you change the oil on your 360??? I got an oil change yesterday on my car. The dealer is recommending an oil change every 3,000 miles, despite the use of synthetic oil. My previous car was a Porsche Boxster, and the recommended oil change interval was 15,000 miles with use of synthetic oil. What is the real world oil change interval for you guys on the board who own 360s??? Thanks in advance for your input.
Change it once a year, keep it between the holes on the dipstick checking it with the engine hot and the dipstick cap "resting" on top of it's threads. unless your putting lots of miles on it (over 5000/year) that should do. Have Fun!
+1 Even if the miles are low, there is condensation, acids, etc... that can pit the internals just sitting there. Best to 'drive' that baby and get it up to operating temp and drive it like it was ment to driven. Above all, Enjoy that car!!!!
i change mine every 3000 miles and change at least 2 xs a year, also like others said ck oil level between changes, change more often cheap insurance imo
If driving say <7-8,000/year I'd do once per year. There's no way the oil gets broken down enough in 1 year putting low miles on it.
I thought you had to fully tighten it to check the oil, not just on top of the threads. Have I been wrong?
It's always been my understanding, and practice, to simply leave the cap lying on top of the threads too.
Yes you have been wrong, check the manual- fully warm, flat surface, car idleing, cap resting on neck not screwed in.
Heck, it may actually be a good thing as extra margin to not overfill the car! If people don't check with oil fully warm it may be overfilled as soon as the car gets up to temp (I know I had to take at least a full quart out of my car from the prior owner's overfill)
There is a company out here in Indiana that does some very thorough oil analysis, blackstone labs. They will even correlate your tests over time so you can see the results for a particular car as time goes on, they also provide access to all your reports online. This may help you guys determine the correct change interval for your specific driving habits and oil brand. http://www.blackstone-labs.com/ They have samples reports here: http://www.blackstone-labs.com/report-explanation.php Just FYI
If you measure the thread count on the filler cap inset (female side) and compare the length against the distance between the holes on the dipstick, you will see that you would be putting almost 1/3 litre more than full-If you topped right up. Some of this oil could get up and into the "air system" and cause some minor smoking issues. The owners books (- the bad english) are quite informative.
If you don't mind me asking, what are you guys paying to have your oil changed? Anyone know what the cost would be in Canada? Thanks
Once a year is fine, assuming everyday driving keeps you under 10,000 - 12,000 miles. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Yes, which translates pretty closely to 10,000 km.. 10,000/1.6093 = 6,214 miles. You guys do know that the factory recommendation is to also do the gearbox/diff oil at the same time as the engine oil too? I'd also recommend doing the corrosive coolant regularly too as if its left to rust this can lead to premature failure of the oil cooler... Image Unavailable, Please Login
In that case, go with that. I usually end up needing to change on time, not miles. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
