And you can say that about a TRUE Freshman QB getting tossed into the BCS championship game with no real experience?
I think he will be just fine, he has 3 more years to develop.

That said, EVERY 'dynasty' falls after being at or near the top for 5-6 years, ALL of them, and Texas' 5-6 years are about up. That doesn't mean they will have a losing record, but 10-2 or 10-3 is next. That isn't their standard.

That would be awesome! You would be welcome to stay at my house, I could get tickets pretty easily. It is about an hour drive to the stadium from home, all highway. I think I would leave my kids at home for that one, no need for them to know how I can get during an important game (I take them to the easy ones usually).

Justice Dept.: Obama administration may take action on BCS*

snippet: "The Obama administration is considering several steps that would review the legality of the controversial Bowl Championship Series, the Justice Department said in a letter Friday to a senator who had asked for an antitrust review. In the letter to Sen. Orrin Hatch, obtained by The Associated Press, Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich wrote that the Justice Department is reviewing Hatch's request and other materials to determine whether to open an investigation into whether the BCS violates antitrust laws...Hatch, a Utah Republican, was steamed that his home state team was deprived of getting a chance to play for the title last year..."

Seriously? Only the Big 12 has won as many national championships as the SEC, and the bulk of those were from the Big 8 days when the winner of the Oklahoma/Nebraska game was a contender because the rest of the Big 8 was a joke.

NCAA to announce sanctions against USC - could affect Bush's Heisman

    Chris Miller Reporting

According to reports out of Los Angeles, the NCAA is going to lower the boom on the University of Southern California's football and basketball programs.

The allegations against the football program center on claims that former USC running back Reggie Bush improperly accepted cash and gifts while he was enrolled at USC. The NCAA began its investigation in early 2006, when a would-be marketer claimed Bush and his family accepted gifts from him.

The sanctions reportedly include a two year ban on bowl appearances, the loss of 20 football scholarships, and the possible forfeiture of games.

If the NCAA retroactively revokes Bush's college eligibility. Could this affect his Heisman Trophy? Some fans hope not:

"It's a hard thing to say," said one man in New Orleans this morning. "Hope he doesn't."

"I don't see what one has to do with the other," said another fan.

In order to be considered for the Heisman award, a candidate must eligible to play college football. In the meantime, fans hope it doesn't distract Bush from helping the New Orleans Saints defend their NFL title.

"If they took his Heisman away, I think that would bother him a lot," said one fan, hopeful that Bush could earn the NFL's Most Valuable Player award to make up for it.

Interesting New Orleans connection. Obvious is Bush in football but Tim Floyd was the bball coach at Univ of New Orleans and NBA Hornets.

Yeah, but back in the day the Big 10 was a joke with Ohio State and Michigan, the Pac-8 was a joke with USC/UCLA, the Sunbelt conference belonged to ASU, the SEC Alabama/Georgia owned, etc.

What is happening now is the top teams are setting themselves up to ALWAYS be the top teams, we may never (ever) see one of these teams have a losing record again.

Rumor has it Texas is staying in the big-12, and if that is the case, we can assume Oklahoma will stay two. AND if that is the case, they will have to realign the conference. CU/NU gone, paves the way for Oklahoma/Oklahoma State to shift to the North Division.
Some teams can kiss goodbye the chance of EVER playing in the big-12 championship game. What Kansas did was a fluke, and I almost say that for Missouri.

Only Nebraska and CU are leaving the Big 12. The others are remaining making the Big 12 a 10 team conference........Texas led the way of those declining invitations to join other conferences.

Now that the Big 12-2 supposedly have Big-10+2 & SEC type of tv-dollars for each school, they should poach some team like Arkansas :)D) & Utah, to get the NCAA mandated 12 teams in a conference for a season-ending lucrative C.C.G.

(yes, Arkansas will never leave the SEC in the foreseeable future; and Utah seems poised for the Pac-10+1).

Too bad the states of New Mexico or Nevada don't have any BCS caliber programs (as of now), they'd be very compatible in the Big 12-2 in terms of culture, academics, geography, demographics, etc'.

I wonder if SMU, TCU, or even Houston ever get to the point of Big 12-2 consideration at some point in time in the years to come.

Nebraska + Big-10+2 made a whole lotta sense to me. Lincoln, NE is very much like other Big-10+1 locales.

Colorado + Pac-10+1 really didn't. I was surprised by it. I still am surprised by it. Colorado all-in-all was very much a Big-12-2 program / institution in terms of surroundings, mentality, and other intangibles.

Stoops and Brown have both stated their dislike of having a CCG, and it looks like they are making the rules for the rest of the conference.

I couldnt disagree more with your statement about CU. They will fit much better with west coast schools than the hillbillies of the Big12. CU has a lot of alumni from the west coast, and has always done well recruiting California. They should have made the move in '94 when they were offered.

In the modern era (since say 1980) I am not joking. Things are cyclical, always have been, always will be. It is nice for the rabid SEC fans to have their day(s) in the sun, but believe me, they always come to an end. If you want to go way back, Yale has one of the best football programs ever! And nobody could match the championship count of the mighty Ivy League.

    Dr. Tommy! ROLL TIDE!!!

    FRAAAAAAANNNNNNKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!

I know you missed me! I bet you wondered what happened to me every day since the title!

I just woke up from my Rose Bowl hangover ;) Just kidding, but I am still on cloud nine.

Other hobbies have taken me away from this site, but I'm still a F1 nut and Ferrari fan, and now that the new season is closing in, I will be back for our regular banter.

Can't wait to pick up the new NCAA Football 2011 on Tuesday -- if any of you play on PS3, find me on the network, BennettUA, and add me so I can show you what BAMA will do to everyone, AGAIN!

    ROLL TIDE!!!

Season is getting closer. The Gators will need a couple of WR's to step up but Urban will make it happen. Should be interesting. It will also be nice to see if little old Boise State can stuff a big can of STFU down the BCS teams faces. If you don't like em...beat em.
