2010 Northeast Spotters Thread

If you tip the valet enough and nicely request, your car will remain in front of the restaurant. Amongst valets in Boston, Porsche owners have the worst rep about demanding an upfront spot on the cheap.

 

I asked nicely with my bill fold open and got a flat "no". Haven't been impressed by the Valet's there in several visits. Most other high end places in Boston have been pretty good. That's said, I don't actually consider the capital grille high end, its just a chain steak house Its just conveniently located if you're going to Symphony hall and want a reasonable feed before an 8pm performance.

 

Grigio Silversone. I try not to be too anal about the car, I did drive it 5K across the country including having to remove a bird from the grill, so its definitely not a garage queen. I did raise it with them when I picked up the car (And had to wait 15 mins for it), not sure what they'll have done with that information.

 

I'm sure you were very congenial, as always. Perhaps he was just unfamiliar with your British quid

 

so i'm not the only brit on the board then ?

 

Today in New London, NH I saw a red MG convertible. I am not too sure on the exact type, but it was from the "T-Series".

 

Yesterday in east greenwich rhode island I spotted a silver bentley gt in the benny's parking lot on post road

 

There's actually quite a few of us stateside on fchat - not so many in New England mind you

Grio 430 in Latham , NY yesterday--very nice! I was in my red NSX.

 

saw a black countach at the mobil station in Windham. that was pretty darn cool

 

past few days i've been seeing a red nsx near the RI Connecticut border

 

Yesterday while out in the 400i, spotted a steel blue 246 GTS with the roof off heading north on the Merritt Parkway. Also saw a couple of Aston Martins, one on North Street in Greenwich, the other on Rt22 in Bedford.

This morning at Zumbach's coffee shop in New Canaan: a 1967 330GT 2+2, a 1972 365 GTC/4 with 13,000 miles and a 1983 400i 5 speed ( not mine). Three Ferraris, each from a different decade. All V12s, all 2+2s.

My 400i would have been there as well this morning but a quirky thing happened to it last night. After treating the seats with leather conditioner and taking a nice 50 mile drive in the afternoon, the car was snugly put away for the night in the garage. My wife went into the garage around 11 and told me "The Ferrari's 4 way flashers are on". And they were. On the 400i, the flasher button normally stays depressed and pops up when you put the flashers on. It popped up by itself and I couldn't get it to click down into the off position, so I flipped off the battery switch and went to bed. I suppose that I could have jammed it in with a toothpick or something but I didn't want to hassle with it before going out for my 8 a.m. tennis group. Its hard to imagine how that switch could be worn out. I've probably only used the flashers once or twice in the past 11 years. Oh well.

Spring has sprung! Get out there and drive them everyone!

 

Saw a beautiful Jag XK-E convertible heading southbound on 128 ~ Waltham area today

 

Today around 3:00 in downtown Amesbury at the taffic circle, spotted a grey 550. Wasn't fast enough to get a photo. Sharp. I was in the Austin Healey.

 

a few Quartroporte's a F355 and a bunch of other stuff..... Hanover St. Tonight.
SLR was amazing.

PS. Woke my car out of a sound winters sleep today. Let the summer begin!

Ashman- good call on the 246 gts..that was me coming up the merritt around 3 pm! Was down in Greenwich at Pulpo's for lunch & blasted back home!! You should join the New Canaan Motorsports Club- we have our Rally & show out of Zumbachs in the fall. Great people too! Have fun
