I just had a look at a 97 - 550 with 80.000km. The car had a steering wheel replacement that was ugly and needs an original replacement. anyone knows the cost of used one? The thing that worried me was the shaking in the car that came around 3-3500rpm when driven. Anyone knows what this could be? didnt happen when reving standing still. only when driven. 4 engine supports is new on the car, but problem was not solved. No history of any new clutch. It seemed to me that this needs to be replaced. but that was just the feeling because of the pedal handling. Clutch came when foot was almost off the pedal. any suggestion? The red paintet engine cover needs to be repainted on one side...anyone knows what type of paint that is?
Aside from loose or worn motor mounts the vibration could be a bent wheel or two. I would tend to pass on a car with an aftermarket steering wheel. Why would someone do that? The original airbag may have been deployed at one time indicating a bad bump or two in its past. There are plenty of good 550's out there. Good Luck Oceans
thanks for your reply! This is in Norway, and I guess there is only about 4-8 of these here. They are expensive to import. Yes, there might be something bent.
I just found out that the car had an engine replacement. Car had run ca 40.000km when a complete new engine was replaced through the cars warranty. Anyone knows what kind of engine troubles the 550 could have had since this was covered by the warranty?
The shop that did this had to shut down some years ago. It was the official Ferrari dealer (one and only in Norway). I can try to get some info from the new dealer.
