Well, I am finally a private pilot. I passed my FAA checkride this morning.
It feels great - almost as good as the first day I soloed.

My flight training began 15 years ago.
I started & stopped my training 3 times over the years.
I always got too busy at work and, after missing several lessons, gave it up for 5 or 6 years at a time.
So this time, I made a commitment to myself to see it through.

It was a tough test - both the oral exam and flying portions - but I did things to within the PTS limits.
I gotta thank the several flight instructors I've had over the years helping to learn both the book knowledge and the flying skills to get me here.

I'm looking forward to building some VFR XC PIC time so I can start my IFR training.

Congrats, Toggie!! It is a great accomplishment!

Start planning some fun runs and get those 50 cross country hours knocked out! You'll be there before you know it! Heck, fly down here to CPK and you can caravan with several of us to the Outer Banks for some surfing :)

Yes, I took lessons at JYO (Leesburg Airport).
I trained at the Av-Ed flight school.

The only issue with JYO is it is inside the SFRA (special flight rules area).
Fortunately, it has its own SFRA Maneuvering Area so the procedures to t/o and land aren't too difficult or time consuming to do.

You know, it still feels great to pass that checkride, even 6 hours later! :)

A trip to CPK sounds great.
I'm not a surfer, so there's no hope for me there.

    Yes, IFR rating next.

Although my under-the-hood skills are not very good at the moment.

Congrats!! You now have a license to learn.

Good to hear you will go for IFR. It will make you a much better pilot.

Toggie- Instrument flying is actually easier than VFR flying. Will be easy for you. Just remember not to chase the VVI, use the attitude indicator and learn what it does for you and you will be set.
