    The Jan/Feb issue of the Harvard Business Review contains a feature article on the best performing CEO's in the world. Apples chief tops the list of nearly 2000 executives included in the study.....Steve Jobs firmly claimed the top spot for bringing a 3188% industry-adjusted return after coming back to Apple a dozen years ago. From Jobs return to Sept '09, the study's authors write, Apples market value increased by $150 billion........

    Yes, i saw a chart the other day where it showed the that Apple was valued at around1/2B$ in 2000...and now its floating around $200B.

    Uncanny ability to see both opportunities in existing markets, and those that don't exist.

    Plus, the unrelenting tenacity to Get It Done.

    It's amazing how rarely those qualities are found in one person.

    Look at the quality of traditional CEO's who failed while at the helm of Apple, it doesn't speak well for our entrenched method of grooming business leaders.

    (Detroit could use more guys without college degrees, but with a passion for great products and great design.)

    I can understand the criticism of Apple's previously closed-world approach to software development, but with the iPhone/iPad's meteoric success, and 185,000 approved applications (surely to grow to double or triple that shortly), is it really that bad of a time to be a developer? Open Source it's not, but the user experience is pretty darn good. Some of the news coming from the 4.0 announcement seems to be to answer developer's concerns. We'll see as the Droid / iPhone battle hits its stride. . .

    I think businesses in general should pay a little more attention to peoples qualities than their "achievements". Companies miss a million opportunites of hiring great people just because their resume doesn't stack up to a perception for a position.
