Hardly..... if you speak to the Atelier people it was always intended to be offered as an option. It wasn't available for early cars as they ramped up production but then neither were many other options .... carbon interior trim, lifting system, upgraded hi-fi, reversing camera etc.

Black roof cars have been a style for a long time. I've been around the custom car business almost my whole life and its almost always been there. A black roof on a white car is usual, and is the only time I personally would do it.

And do we think that these new heady heights of customisation we're now being offered are a sign that Pininfarina thinks we know better than they do what a Ferrari should look like, or do we think the marketing department have decided to try to squeeze every last pip out of the current range...

Just because something is an option doesn't mean you have to buy it. Every high end manufacturer knows that an extensive options list allowing a high degree of personalisation is the best way to make money and keep customers happy. Two tone on a Ferrari is nothing new. Check the back catalogue out before slating it. As for modern interpretations Napolis' P4/5 looks pretty good with a contrasting roof.

You may not like bicolour so don't order it. Others clearly do and will. I saw a bi colour Bianco Avus car with a Nero roof on the production line last week. It accentuates the lines of the car giving the glass house a fighter jet canopy appearance whilst emphasising the rising waistline that subtly overlaps the rear of the glass house.

An interesting thread. I must be getting old as my order doesn't take long at all - simple black interior (no contrast stitiching, no cf decorations...) and rosso corsa.

Less is truly More --- what amazes me is how difficult most people find this to do! Some cars posted on this Forum are truly tasteless - but each to his own.

I always feel the cars look best in the brochure config. That's not to say they always need to be red - but sometimes 1 or 2 details really make the car.

Nice, i love the color. the car is actually very similar to my choices, except i went with red where you went with blue on the interior.

Here is what I was thinking for a spider configuration

Out of range color: Rossa Fiorano with yellow calipers & shields

Interior color: beige with CF door panels, dash, and upper driving zone. Yellow tach. Painted grills, Red stitching. Black leather tunnel.

I'm still playing with it. Like I said, I have time -- but it's nice to dream!

Graphite or black wheels would set that off!

That's also what I would do, except no black roof, Scuderia shields and this interior:

As usual, I can't make up my mind. I need to complete my build sheet on Tues. I have two different builds I'm considering.

    1) Scuderia Red with Cuoci Brown as the primary and Nero as the secondary. Racing Seats, Shields, Door Sills, Carbon Steering Wheel, Carbon Dash and a few other goodies. I also adjusted a few of the trim pieces to tie in the Brown and Black with the dash. I skipped the NAV, Lift System and Hi Fi.

    2) Yellow with Racing seats, shields, all Nero interior, with Yellow stitching, Carbon Steering Wheel, Carbon, Dash, Carbon Center Console and Carbon door panels. Once again I skipped NAV, lift and premium hi-fi.

I'm really torn. Both my current Ferrari's are RED. One Rosso Red and one Scuderia Red. Half of me says stay with red and go with the unique two tone interior. It would be a killer color combo with good resale. The other half says classic Yellow with Nero would look nice and clean. But yellow cars seem to be sitting on dealer lots everywhere. I do need to consider resale a little bit. I flip cars fairly fast.

Bravo! This looks amazing. Perfect complimentary color tones. This would be the choice to go with.

I submitted my build sheet today. Contrary to my prior post, I went back to basics.

    Giallo Modena Yellow
    Nero Interior w/ Yellow Stitching
    Shields
Lift System with AFS Lighting (They have to be ordered together)
    Sport Sills
    Standard Seats with Electric Option
    Carbon Driver Zone
    Carbon Dash
    Carbon Console
    ElectoC Mirrors
    Std Wheels in Dk Chrome
    Red Calipers
    iPod

Premium Hi-Fi, NAV and the Backup Camera were all ridiculously priced. I passed on those.

The Brits must not care! For years the default color combination for that market was a Ferrari painted Rosso Corsa with crema seats and RED carpet.
There was an interview with a Ferrari exec years ago where he detailed how certain markets ordered the majority of their Ferrari models in specific color combinations. The USA was easy- red on tan...
