Lotus Elise? Or if you don't mind Japanese cars, you could try a 370z.

Jon, that sounds a lot like my car! Don't know about the interesting bit though but it sure is pretty in me and Mike's eyes.

About time we buy cars that add % to their values annually! Problem is, we first surrender 20 years worth of appreciation to you know who when we bring these cars in and pay the OMV.

    like a freaking rocket ...

altho i hv my doubts on reliability ... cos it's one thing to hv a slingshot on the road but entirely different if used on track ...

will it last on the track? or self-destruct?

Alamak, u got me excited for a while then I read again & u must be talking abt yr 355 :)

Hmmm I completely forgot abt 355! Don't think I want to deal with that maintenance program :D & that brings to mind, the only 348 & Mondial spiders left here.

I imagine the Mclaren would be a great car for the track, afterall they only built race cars and not "sports cars"

So there is only 1 each of the 348 and Mondi rag tops? Ex Dr Choy's car? I used to play tennis with his son long time ago before we discovered women existed!

OK, just testdrove a 2003 unit. Very clean condition with a nice BIG carbon wing from RS. Has lightweight singlemass flywheel so you hear the chuckle sound which goes away once you clutch in.

Quite fast off the line. Gearbox rather easy to use but not as sharp, bolt on as 997 version. Clutch is fine & you'd need to get use to the biting point.

Steering is light but not riding on butter. However, suspension is very hard & it tramlines, giving you intimate feedback. You definitely need two hands on the wheel @ any one time other than changing gears & not fondling your phone or partner ;) The car demands attention to drive!

In short, the ride is busy. This is not for the average Joe. 90% of the time is watching your lines & traffic as it's rather entertaining. It's not something you potter around @ 60km/h but dash & dart before the next traffic light.

I've had some time with 997GT3 & RS. They are a lot more civilised in everyway & quite a shocking difference from this 996 genre.

I didn't do tracktime on this but it should be quite a blast there where it belongs. For a daily, you'd probably want to switch the suspension set-up, dial out & of course tyres.

Don't get me wrong, this is probably close to a full blown track car, easy maintenance & doesn't hurt too much in the wallet (now). An occasional car & Singapore rds will be too restrictive for it.

Well, I consider myself an average Joe & it's too tiring for me as I've gone GT. Had I been 5 yrs junior, I'd gone grinning. :D
