Restoring my 78 308GTS

You are right, that would prime the system. I just wanted to get the oil into the filter before starting it as I didnt think that the oil pump would be able to get it into all the nooks of the engine by simply cranking the starter. It was much easier and quicker than I had expected.

There was on thing that I haven't taken apart on that car so far and that is the gas pedal. All that old grease and dirt made the pedal stick somewhat. Pulled it today took it all apart and cleaned it, greased the bearings and put it back together. Feels great now.

That sounds a bit like tickling a mosquitos genitals, but you are right I haven't done that and I will most certainly get to it!

 

After quite a lot of time spent on details, stuff that takes lots of time but is barely noticable, I actually drove it after 6 years. Around the block in the compound but I actually drove it.

I found original airhorns after I had given up already. But Superformance actually has them, I had to make a new bracket in order to install them behind the euro bumpers as they don't leave as much space as the US ones. I finished all the interior pretty much. except the doors, those are still a project on their own, mostly because of the NLA glass moldings. I got two new latches for the Targa top. Fitted the Engine lid and installed proper engine lid shocks. I got rid of the single toothpick engine lid support and converted to the post 78 set up.

The oustide glass scraper that keeps the water out of the door. The rubber strip along the edge. If anybody has a good substitute please tell me. I currently have the strip that rutlands sells in a roll. Black cloth with felt stuff on it.

One thing I wanted to say also, I have read quite a few threads on here regarding brakes and rebuilding them but so far I haven't seen any mention of the small valve thats in the hose from the brake booster to the rear bank inlet manifold. On my car that valve was sticking a bit at first. I was able to clean it out and get it to work for now but I will be looking to replace it with a new one. If that little valve doesn't do its job properly the brakes won't work no matter how new the booster or mastercylinder or calipers are (mine are all rebuilt). May be somebody is banging their head against the wall about them brakes, not thinking about that hose and valve by the engine, I hope that helps.

Right, yeah I have the same stuff for the inside but the outside is what I am still not sure about how to do. I might use that stuff on the outside as well.

Regarding originality, I am not much of a stickler for it. I actually think that the way they ran that outside rubber strip originally was one of the reasons why the windows don't go up and down properly but I have to do more testing in order to prove that theory to myself

Originally that rubber strip runs along the entire edge therefore pushing the A frame towards the inside of the car quite a bit.

 

Thanks Chip! Yes it is a US car, I bought the euro bumpers from a guy on ebay, they bolt right on with some adjustment and playing around of course.... its a Ferrari.

Thanks! I just got the tires last week, Continental Extreme Contact DW, it's a new line. I was struggling with my decision wether or not to buy stock size or bigger, now I am very happy that I got the stock size. On 16" wheels those look big enough for my taste.

Yeah I know something is missing in the front, you must be talking about Bob's license plate bracket... right? , the grill is going to be anodized this week, once I know if other parts still need anodizing as well.
