Interesting. It looks so metallic. Maybe it's just the photo. Mugello isn't metallic.

Despite the fact that I think you should never buy a Ferrari in red (too corny) that looks absolutely fantastic. If you're going to have red that's the one to go for - so much depth. Those sills need painting, though, to slim the waist down. One of the best I've seen so far.

This thread is better than porn. Seriously.

Quick question: is that blue carbon fiber on the Zonda?

It's pretty certain it's not Fuoco. The Atelier was trying to get me interested in Fuoco and I saw one on the production line. Fuoco is almost like a metallic version of Rosso Scuderia and much lighter than this car. I'd agree it's Rosso Fiorano. Rosso Mugello is a deeper, non metallic red.

Here are pics of Fuoco, Fiorano and Mugello for comparison.

Prego! Dealership was opened about 2 years ago. Many exotics were already seen there: 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, 212, 250 and so on...

You probably won't see one at a main dealer here in the UK for quite some time. There is currently a delay of 4 weeks on UK orders which is pushing everything back I believe.

Yes, It does feel like it might be some time. I swung by my local dealer in Swindon a few days ago on the off chance but, obviously, no 458. Everyone was dealing with someone at the time so I didn't stay to ask when they expected it in. Might do so next time I pass. Lots of nice Scuds in there, though. Very tempting...

UK dealer demo's were due in June but with production being put back by a month it's likely they won't have their cars until sometime in July now. Mine was a July build but will now be pushed back and most likely delayed even further by the factory summer shutdown in August.

why are the dealers asking for specs so early? thought it was only needed 3 months before build?

It looks great - need to see all the US markers on it, may ruin the cleanliness of those lines.

Good question. Here's my 2 cents. In the long run Ferrari is going to build a ton of 458s and I'm sure they are worried if they will be able to sell them all. Ignore the first year of production. With all the hype there won't be any trouble selling out. It's the second year on that could be a problem? In the past when the economy was good a dealer's list was a mile long Ferrari didn't ask for specs so early. But now Ferrari wants to see orders with customer names sitting in the computer ready to be processed. I know for a fact on the California that FNA has pressured some dealers to show 8-9 months of orders in advance. As a reward that dealer might get extra allocation of a 458. My 458 is a Sept build also. My specs went in in March. My dealer said that normally July would have been the time frame. I won't rehash old threads here but in 4-5 years the 458 will be a "dime a dozen".

I'd guess you will be Hari unless the factory catch up at some point and bring the delays down. I'm assuming that orders are being called in early to ensure suppliers are given as much advance notice as possible for components. I want the carbon dash inserts (DATR) but have been told that they are currently unavailable and there is no indication when they will be back on MODIS and available to order.

    ok makes sense now.

i also remember pre-recession when dealers were ordering 430s on dummy customer names to obtain stock and then when it all went down the pan a load of 430s were sitting unsold in showrooms.

Iain - is DATR replacing the aluminium grilles with carbon ones? Whats the difference between LEDS and CIDL?

Ha... I actually prefer the "stock" wheels to the sport wheels. They just look far more interesting than the sports and, I think, look better on the car. They should offer them in a 20" size.

The standard and optional wheels are all 20" size. Keeps production more simple that way.
