That's a pretty amazing deal, given the price structure on them, to date.......
This assumes that anyone there actually KNOWS about the mistake. Any large mail/e-com retailer like Jegs is highly automated and very few humans actually see the orders. An order comes in via the web, is automatically processed and shipped. Unless there is something in place to catch large margin discrepancies, no one will know for a while. If it is a mistake, it will be caught eventually and fixed -- get your tires now while the gettin's good.
I would also suspect they have computer programs in place to identify discrepancies between what something was bought for and what it is sold for, though human error can still be involved. garbage in, garbage out... Doug
My set of XWX's shows a date code of 486. Do I assume this means the date of mfg is the 48th week of 1996? Or 14 year old tires? At $126 ea, I'll order a replacement set.
Gosh this is a tough one. I still say just upgrade to 16" and put some superior rubber to the road. For you showcar guys, XWX tires are nice to have but not required for concours. Only the size needs to be correct.
I just got my wheels back this week Doug. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just visited the web site again and they are still available. Go to the Jegs site, type in part number 257 55570, they are still listed at 126.99. If it is a mistake, I would act quickly!
Made in France at the Michelin factory, Coker told me that Michelin will not sell the molds. The side of the tire is marked made in France.
I just ordered four and they emailed me to advise they are out of stock and they will arrange for another supply. They then said they will not charge the credit card until they have the new tyres - infering a price change? - Will they hit the one key instead of the four twice in a row..... we wait.. Nick NZ
I experienced the same scenario. Jegs was out of stock requiring them to order the tires from Coker the US distributor. I had them just a few days later.
Those look a whole LOT better than my faded, chipped ones do, that currently reside in the storage over the garage. Last summer, I compared ~$200/wheel for refinish plus ~$400/tire for decent 205-14/70 tires and decided $110 aftermarket 17" wheels and $130 tires was a better choice for my use. Not coucours, but they work well. Doug Doug
That would have been cool to see a renaissance of XWX's on 308's. How's this for sour grapes: My cheapo Sumitomo 205-70HR14 probably handle just as well
My order was cancelled twice, didnt show up at all online ( & I am a pro drag racing customer so I buy lots of stuff) BUT THEY ARRIVED AT THE OFFICE TODAY !!!!!!!! YEAH with the packing slip confirming price. Hope you guys get yours
The new listing:!!!! Coker Tire 55570 20570VR14 MICHELIN XWX BLACK Item# 257-55570 Ships 04/18/10 Only $499.99
Oh, man....I'll bet they are UPSET about the ones that got out the door!!!! LOL! When Goodyear air freighted my FULDAS from Europe the girl misquoted the freight $$, it was 300% more... ROTFLMAO!
