Haha, i was actually thinking of a 5 series or an S-class. So my son, as usual, recommended me the top of the range models; M5 and S63. But as im a businessman, an S-class will still portray a more befitting image. I have not driven the murcie for close to 2 weeks! Don't really like the low-ness of the car. Only do it to humour my boy. The things fathers do.. Haha

can someone please please categorically state what the factory recommended procedure is for shut down n start up, considering the varying opinions amongst us supposedly low cheow exotic car players!
also, i read somewhere its better to let car downshift from2 to1 by itself rather than manually when slowing to a stop. is this true? i do find this less jerky tho.

    from my Owner's Manual

"The engine can be turned off either with the gearshift in N or a gear engaged. After turning the ignition key from position II to position 0, the display will remain on for a few more seconds to display the gear engaged. If the gearshift is in N, a buzzer will sound."

Happens to E-gear as well. Probably a safety feature from heating up the clutch.

Ah yes, the guy who sells mosquito coils!

    Wow, not bad looking :D

There's a beeping sound but only for E-gear. Yours is a manual so no music ;)

U can try ebay. Seriously, or go on board lamb*power.com

oh great so we're all right. if i recall the few times i forgot to put car to neutral when shutting down, the display showed 0 as opposed to N when i started up again. does this mean car went to zero when ignition was turned on and car was in gear the whole time prior thereto, or it defaults to zero or some default park mode despite shutting down in1?

if it's in gear when shutting down, it remains in gear until the startup process begins .. & you can usually hear the gearbox selecting N just before the engine kicks over

Tim, it's the former. That's why when you turn the key, the gear display will still indicate "1". Once you step on the brake and press the red button, you can hear the gear changing to neutral before the engine cranks.

Can a non AMG merc join? I just picked up an old horse to move abt.

U mean your 360CS? I think it's all about rev matching & if I remember right, I used to bring it to neutral & coast for a few metres before coming to a complete stop but this is only for leisurely drives.

according to ben, the automatic shifting to N when car is stationary was not really anything to do with the clutch but more of a safety feature- apparently someone stopped with car in 1 ,got out of car and while trying to get back in,stepped accidentally on accelerator...
