    I bought the new macbook pro 17" yesterday...think this is fast and very smooth. nice upgrade from my 2007 15 inch. Just wanted to give some positive feedback.

    We were in the Apple Store Monday and I was asking when the Pro would get updated since my daughter is heading to college and wanted the 15". The store had no idea or that's what they said. Lo and behold it comes out the next day. Glad you like it. I'm still using a 15" PowerBook, great machines.

    I'm still using my 12" iBook. I'll probably upgrade when they offer the matte screen on the 13" MacBook Pro...

    In my laptop hunt I played with one yesterday, not impressed really. Faster than previous versions, but not impressive. None of the apps are set for the i7 architecture on that platform just yet.

    I have been holding off buying a new Mac for MONTHS! I am glad it has finally arrived - off to the Apple Store I go!

    Just my 2cents, but having just picked up a 13" MBP as a factory refurbish ($999), I can get a monitor and 3year AppleCare for less than a 15". Very good value if you don't need the performance of the (new) larger cousins.

    I have a Mini now, the next mac I buy will be a Macbook pro.
