Started having problems with my window switches. I needed to press really hard to activate to the point that the drivers one became very loose. I figured I needed a new one so off to the dealer. After installing the new switch I opened the old defective one and cleaned all the contacts with a small file and some fine sand paper. I put the switch back together and now works perfectly.
Somewhat of a serviceable item in that the contact plates can easily be disassembled and cleaned.

In hindsight I should have attempted the repair first.

Did your switch also suffer being 'loose' by that I mean sloppy in the rocker motion and is this also fixable?

Maybe it is facetious, but I didn't know that the window itself could keep working long enough to wear out the switch -

Really. I would just touch bare wires together if it made the window work right.

Yes exactly, however I wasn't able to fix that. I need to open up the passenger side switch to see exactly what is missing from the drivers side. The switch problem came with the car so maybe someone may have already opened it.

It appears that since there is no relay inline of the switch, it is switching the motor load and causing arcing across the contacts which is what needs to be cleaned.
