Hank - great photos Like you said, a day to remember for all who took apart and especially for Alexander and Susie. Looking forward to seeing some more photo. I'd also like to thank you all for taking part, but especially to Henry for getting the ball rolling, Haig for really spending so much time organizing and Kevin arranging the Burbank PD escort. Really wish I lived closer so that I could joined you all. Cheers Matt
Guys, I've got to say this is great! Your generosity reaches beyond this one event and is an inspiration to "pay it forward" whenever you have the chance.
I just caught this thread this evening. I shared the amazing generosity of this community as well as the young man's story with my wife. She could not stop crying. Well done gentleman.
I have been around here over five years and I have to say this is the greatest thing I've seen. Sometimes I feel silly for wanting a Ferrari, wondering how important it can possibly be in the grand scheme of things. The fact that seeing one was this boy's last wish though has made me realize that it doesn't matter what your dreams are, you should always chase them no matter what, because life is short. You guys did good.
Everything was perfect. Everyone deserves a great big thank you. Everyone who showed up AND everyone on this forum played a part. The positive energy was incredible. Alexander and his family were so appreciative. I'm very lucky to have been a part of this. Thank you all to my old and new friends.
Forgot to mention, we did have one unfortunate incident... CelestialCoop was driving to meet me to drive down together. Unfortunately, he was rear ended in his 246 Dino. He's OK, but the Dino will need quite a bit of body work. Again, Matt, Haig, Kevin, and everyone else - kudos to you.
Crap! I just saw this thread now. I wish I knew earlier, I would of been down there in a second. I feel so bad not knowing about this. Well its good to see how the whole Fchat community could put there differences aside for once and do something good together. I applaud all of you for making Alexander's dream come true. Make's me proud to be apart of FCHAT. Well done guys!
I would have to agree. Let's consider... Someone writes a post asking to help an awesome young 21 year old man that is losing his battle with MD yesterday at 4:00. The Fchat community responds as if it's armageddon. We go into full lockdown mode. The troops are gathered; plans are drawn up; the masses assemble to assess what needs to be done, all within 24 hours. This is right out of an episode of 24. I got into the Ferrari community initially for my love of the cars, the history, the pedigree, the pure adrenaline that comes with planting your foot down on the pedal. Never did I think that today was what it was really all about.
i am so proud to be a member of this community right now...i am literally a bit teary eyed. you all showed such generosity and made a true impact on a family. i have never been more proud to be a ferrari owner. we the members of f-chat thank you all. best, pcb
Sorry for the late post, I just got home. Matt, thank you for giving us the opportunity to change a dream to become a reality. It was an afternoon & evening to remember. Hank talked about the rumble and yes it was. As the lead car, I followed BPD SUV holding out of my window a large Ferrari Flag in my hand as we pulled into Safari Inn. We later signed our names on that flag and gave it to Alexander to keep. The accommodation for VIP parking was awesome, it allowed us to freely move around and give Alexander the opportunity to take pictures with each car individually. Yes, this event did put a big smile on Alexander's face. Yes he was waiting to meet his racing Ferrari team to arrive and let the race begin. The look in eyes looking at each and every car was similar to a kid at a race track going wow. Tonight the winner of this race is Alexander. I thank you all for supporting Henry and bringing out these beautiful cars for a great cause. I thank Safari Inn Management for returning my call and making every effort for VIP parking in their limited space parking lot become available to us. Special thanks to Burbank PD for assisting our 1/4 mile drive to take place and waiting for all to arrive. Kevin this would have not taken place without you buddy. Special thanks goes to Auto Gallery and the Team. Your support was well appreciated by all and yes, you got our attention every single time John reached into the mystery bag. The 360 Spider made #10 car count. With all this said, I would like to take a moment and thank another F-Car owner (Coop) who wished to be there with us and was on the list of cars to attend. An unfortunate accident did set back his DINO only few blocks from his home as he was leaving to the event. Coop, I am sorry to hear the damage to the Dino with the hope it is minor fix. I have personally been authorized to share pictures here by Alexander's mother. Thank you Hank for encouraging Alexander to join Ferrari Chat and we are ready to welcome our new friend. As promised to those of you who posted earlier in the day, your messages was delivered in witting. I managed to cut and past your messages and print 12 pages in color which I personally handed to Alexander. Alexander's wish is now a REALITY!
What a great event. Wish i could have made it. You guys are awsome to make his dream a reality! Giving is the greatest reward on earth.
Touching. This thread has moved me deeply. Great work to those that got involved and my thoughts are with Alexander.
Man,this is what it's all about, giving back.I wish i could have been there, you guys make me proud to be counted as a member here. God Bless.
If it's ok with everyone, I'd like to post your photos on the Porsche Pelican board so that they can see what a great job was pulled off by the Ferrari community for Alexander. Cheers Matt
