    Hey FChat,

Today I am starting my first company, a holding company for any projects I decide to do in the future. I am working on a project now with investors and need to set up a company for signing the contract, and incase I want to invest in any ideas in the future I will have it here for me.

Most people I've talked to tell me its easier to come up with a name if you know what your company stands for, but scratch that! The name of my company can be anything, I don't like to limit myself.

    What am I looking for?

    Beautiful
    Classy
    Luxurious
    Professional
    Sharp

Here are some examples of names I really enjoy:

Brawn GP (Braun is a nice looking word as well)
North Kingdom (A design company from Sweden)
    Bang & Olufsen
    Weiden + Kennedy
    Saatchi & Saatchi
    Design Chapel
    Audi SA
    Aston Martin
    Paris DDB
    Barcelona
    Geneve (or Geneva)
    Hublot

Some of these are names, if you can put some names together then so be it! I really enjoy French & German words, they can be translated from English or be a surname, or first name.

Although this is only a holding company, I want to be proud of it. Something I can use on quality business cards(I am a designer and like to keep on top of things like this).

I come to FC because I feel as you all might have similar tastes and I have seen how intelligent most of the members are. I have been at this for days and tonight is the night to set it up. I can't wait much longer as I need to get the contract signed the investors sent over.

Short names work well too, one I came up with was "BLCK" (for BLACK), it would be a nice name. Also the German word Reich which translates to rich or empire.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I hope you are interested in sharing ideas, I am about all out.

Thank you all very much, and I look forward to see what input you have.

    Best,
    Trevor

I think some Latin words tend to sound classy. Supremus, altus, silex, sententia, formosus

Not to divert this off topic, but can anyone also come up with a hand crafted artisan brownie company name?

    Hey guys,

That sounded sarcastic so I'm going to take the good guess that Reich is already taken?*

*Edit, Just noticed it was the name of the "Third Reich", I can see why it would be a very poor choice.

I do like Latin words although they just don't feel fully there for what I'm looking for.

    Best,
    Trevor

Here are few off the top of my head:

Corinthian (Chrysler used the term "Corinthian leather" even though it meant nothing, it just sounded good)

    Leone Enterprises (Italian for lion)

Lincoln & Lincoln (subconsciously Lincoln means honesty and leadership)

    Bella (Italian for beautiful)

Maybe your logo could be a stylized sailor saluting.

And of course the name of the company: Brown Aye

The answer is right there in the question:

"The Classy Beautiful Company" in German actually
    sounds kind of cool:

    "Noble Schöne Firma"

You could shorten it to NSF.... probably won't look good on company checks though.

    :)

    Grand Tetons holdings!

    Why?

    it's classy --- French
it's sexy -- it means big boobs
it's sharp -- well, the best ones are "pointy"
it's luxurious -- make really great "pillows"
it's professional -- for $50, you can touch 'em!

In all seriousness, how about Chamonix?

Eights characters, European, beautiful pronunciation, stunningly beautiful place........

    Chamonix LLC
    Chamonix Group
    Chamonix Partners
    Chamonix Holdings

FYI, there is a Chamonix Private Equity in London, but that should be of no issue for your uses.

    You could go 'CBC'

    C = Classy
    B = Beautiful
    C = Company

    Hi Trevor,

I have friends who do this for a living (and they don't solicit amateurs on internet forums). For your future plans, I bet you can't afford not to spend the requisite six figures to develop the best brand possible. Feel free to PM me.

    Best regards,

    b-mak

P.S. I just love that term 'classy'. It means a lot.
