Setting up the spec for my 458 and trying to figure out what the option is for the 20" 5 spoke forged wheels which are DARK. The option list I have has RICS and RMSV (Painted Sport Wheels), although I am not sure what type of finish is on RMSV. Dealer is looking into it but has to have the order in within 24 hours ..

does anyone have pictures of Rosso Scuderia with the dark wheels? I think it will look great but having problems finding real world examples. Here is the rest of my spec, comments welcome!

    ROSSO SCUDERIA
    NERO INTERIOR
    RED REV COUNTER
    RACING SEATS LARGE
    BRAKE CALIPERS RED
    20" PAINTED WHEELS DARK FINISH
    SPORTS SILL COVER
    SCUDERIA FERRARI SHIELDS
    IPOD
    STEERING WHEEL CARBON WITH LED
    SATELLITE NAVIGATION
    EMBOSSED PONY HEADREST
    RED CONSTRAST STITCH
    ALCANTARA SEAT CENTERS
    ALCANTARA ARMREST
    ALCANTARA UPPER
    ALCANTARA HEADLINER

Reading from the brochure, the decsription of RMSV is as follows:

20 inch 5 spoke sports wheels painted silver....hope this helps..

Sounds good - impressed you said no CF. A friend brought his bike by the house - all carbon body, wheels everything - its cost him 2,000 and performed unlike interior CF in a Ferrari.

Everything is clean and simple, the shields is my only question, can they be either tinted or darkened somehow? Just seems with all the darker shades, the shields is a contrast that against the red calipers and dark wheels kills the clean curves.

When you say 'BRAKE CALIPERS RED' do you mean Rosso Corsa or Rosso Scuderia? Probably best to match them to the chosen exterior color of the 458.

Is this correct for the dark optional wheels? Optional Rims "RMSV" with special grey peinture 356/C3 price 6.000 euro (forged sport rims on the site on the configurator)

The calipers are rosso scuderia, matched ..

I think RMSV is painted silver wheel .. I guess my dealer will find out how to get them painted black. Hope there isn't a surcharge

The only factory offered different coloured option for the sports rims is dark grey. This option is described as 20" Sport rims painted in grey 356/C3 on my Atelier order. The factory does not offer a black finish (I asked the Atelier about this). They charge 1130 euros above the standard finish silver RMSV wheel option price for this grey finish giving a total cost of 4000 euros before tax.

Here is a pic of the grey Sports wheels on a Rosso Corsa car.

nice are you sure this is the factory painted grey wheel?

356/C3 grey is the same color as 430 Scuderia and 599XX grey wheels?

    Thanks.

Not sure about that. The rims are probably painted in Grigio Corsa (same as 430 Scuderia Coupe) - not a factory option for the 458. Grey 356/C3 is a brighter color.

Pretty sure. It's a hard colour to capture on camera accurately due to lighting conditions. I've seen pic's of my Scud where the wheels look a lot darker than the actually are. On top of that there are now too many pictures of 458s with this same colour of grey wheel for it not to be the factory finish option IMHO.

I have seen the 356/C3 rims in the flesh (at the atelier), and they are NOT the same color as the rims on my Scuderia.

    Thanks,

those look good - my dealer put the order in as you described and is awaiting confirmation from the factor that they can't do black paint.

What do you make of the wheels in the first pictures I posted in the thread? The wheels on that car look black rather than grey. Maybe he did something aftermarket ...

Although I am old school and still prefer silver, those gray wheels look better than black to me because you can still see details on the wheels. With black, the wheels just seem to disappear.

Rosso Scuderia with Modena Yellow calipers would also look good. Nice match to the wheel centers and shields.

Yellow tachs also look good because they match the steering wheel emblem.

All in all, your 458 should be very attractive the way you have specced it.

Taz - you're probably right about the grey paint. I'm going to leave it at that ..

was debating the tach situation. I got the red stitching so I thought that it would be nice to have the consistent red tach. I do like yellow though too but maybe that would give the Mcdonald's look on the interior .. might need to find some pictures with nero interior and compare the red tach and the yellow one. Although I might drive my dealer crazy if I start changing stuff at the last minute ..

That does look good - but it seems like the number coloring in the 458 will be different from that. Looks like the lettering will be white/grey on yellow vs white on red which looks easier to read ..
