Is there still anyone in need of a Phil's Garage 288 GTO? I went back to Target to find 5 of them sitting on the pegs, all were unsigned. I didn't pick any up as I have 3 of them already. I'd gladly pick one up for someone who still cannot find one. Chris
I'd like a pair, if you can score 'em... just let me know what I owe you, or if there's anything you want or need in trade.
I ran across a pretty big assortment of both Speed Machine Ferraris and also the TrU Ferrari Racers.... Does anyone need anything specific?? I also have a ton of yellow 430s and yellow Challenge 430s for some reason.....LOL! But only one red example, of each......crazy!
Anyone need the 3 pack CARS set with Antonio Veloce Eccellente / Ferrari F430 / Costanzo Della Corsa? I ran across 2 yesterday at a Wal-Mart. I can run and get 'em since I am off Tuesday/Wednesday if anyone is interested.
BigTex....you know our retail stores here in Hawaii are pretty much drier than dry. So if you can please score me with just one, I say again just one of the new Speed Machine Hotwheels. The red Ferrari 599XX! It will be greatly appreciated! Let me know the price and shipping and I will send you my payment. Thanks!
Well you were the one I was thinking of.......red FXX? I don't HAVE that one, yet! I have: Blue Enzo Silver California Silver 599GTB Red 575GTC (real nice!) 333SP How about I send you those? I'll keep looking for the red FXX.....
My gf nailed me when I mentioned "Walmart".....she KNEW I never go to Walmart for ANYTHING! There were some hot, trashy girls in the one over in Pasadena!
I found a gold Delorean & that was about it today. Still trying to find a Phil's Garage 288GTO. I've tried Walmart, Target, TRU & still not having any luck finding that damn thing.
Hey Tex, I think Hawaiin35 is referring to the new 599XX. The race version of the 599 GTB Fiorano. That is going to be one sweet looking little casting! Anyone here find one yet? I think they are considered "Wave 2"? Chris
Ok I'll keep looking ...and give these out to kids at the Art Car Parade!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Man...laudaman you read my mind. If the Phils Garage 288 GTO is hard to find here in Hawaii....This Speed Machine 599XX will be next to impossible to find. So please guys if you happen to pass by TRU isle Wal-Mart, Target or K-Mart and see 288 GTO and 599XX remember me. Thanks guys!!!
Can somebody give me a quick description on how to take the body off of a Hot Wheels? Where do I drill into, the two rivets? I'd like to try and not break anything Thanks! Chris
I drill the center out of the rivets holding the body to the base using a 1/8th" bit, until the collar can be pried off. I use the 1/8th" bit so that all I'm drilling is the rivet, not the base. The body should then separate from the chassis easily. Take note that sometimes grills, diffusers and such can "slide into" the body of certain cars. A good example of this is the roof-on F-50, where the rear grill, lights and lic plate slide through the body. Once I have the body off, I use a small dremel grinding tip to remove the "talons" that hold the axles into their slots. I don't know why they bother with this, because on most cars the "interior" captures the axle and holds it into the slot anyway. Perhaps the "talons" are for ease of assembly at the factory. Once I have the wheels out I clean up the axle slots using the edge of one of those cardboard nail files. Then, I install the new wheels, reassemble the car and place a drop or two of Loctite's Crazy Glue onto the spot where the rivet head once was. Don't use too much, just enough so that the glue catches both the base and the remains of the rivet. Set aside to dry. The bond is strong enough for handling and most play, but I wouldn't send custom HW's through any of the HW track sets. Another way of reassembling that I've seen is to take a 1/16th" drill bit and drill down into the center of the rivet, reassemble the car and then screw a small machine screw into the 1/16th" hole you drilled into the rivet. Cars reassembled this way should be super strong, not that I've had any problems with the crazy Glue method.
Thanks for the awesome write-up Apex! I'll definitely use that while doing my next "project". Acutally, I think the one I just did came from your idea of wheel-swapping the LP560! So, I definitely owe you credit there. A simple wheel-swap? What a pain in the ass! I completely demolished the bottom chassis, but I'm somewhat happy with how the car turned out for my first wheel-swap. Again, a copy of Apex's idea. Looks great to me! Those cro-molded wheels just look great on the LP560! The Speed Machines Tesla comes with a set of cro-molds with black centers/chrome lips, which will probably be the wheels my LP560 repaint gets when find the right color...
Alan, do you happen to know the guy in the Facilites Electric truck? Just wondering, not b/c you're goofing around. I know one of the owners, was curious if you knew anyone from the company?
Though it's not a Hotwheels car, picked up the Green Light Gallardo because it looked pretty good and was on sale at TRU lol. Pretty good details on it really
Darn! I just passed up 5 or 6 Phil's Garage 288 GTO at Target on Sunday. Wish you wouldn've said this before I went! If I'm back that way and can score one, I'll definitely send one out to you. Chris
