Ferraris seem to have a cult like following in Italy. It is part of their culture over there. I was wondering though, what do the Italian people think of Lamborghinis? I mean Lamborghinis have been in Italy for around 50+ years and it doesnt seem like they are as well loved as Ferraris. Could I be wrong?

    No racing heritage, no tifosi.

I'd say they're respected, but not loved. [Particularly now they're German owned.]

    My 02c,
    Cheers,
    Ian

I spend quite a bit of time every year in and around Modena. Lamborghini is loved and has a following maybe as much as Ferrari from what i have seen. They are proud of the marque.

I would like to read what do people in Italy think about Lamborghini.

If I was Italian I would be very proud because wheter you like or hate Lamborghini, they are constructing high end dreamcars.

    And it doesn't diminish Ferrari.

From my personal experience, nobody can come close to the Ferrari mystique in Italy. I actually think Maserati is more respected than Lambo. Alfa Romeo has a strong following too.

I have often wondered about this very question. It will be interesting to hear from people who actually have some first hand knowledge.

I have always heard they are not as well respected but I take with a grain of salt, as they say.

I lived in Italy for six years and I agree exactly with what you are saying.
If they were in F1 I'm sure it would be somewhat different but...

They are now owned buy Audi.. The guys at the factory didn't like that and reffered to the gallardo as a Gallaudi.. ;) But they saw it as the one oportunity to save their jobs and keep the company from dying.. The murcielago they ment that was the last real lamborghini as the body is made in Italy not in germany as the gallaudi.. :)

My impression is that Italians love lamborghini allmost as much as ferraris.. But we have to have Emilio on thisone :)

Finally somebody that KNOWS what he is talking about on this thread.

They just love the cars! When I drove a Murcie around the area everybody was all thumbs up. They are VERY PROUD of Lamborghini. It is Italian, just as they are.

You say that in jest, however, it would be interesting how Lamborghini would be thought of today if they still built tractors. It seems like Feruccio was more embarrassed by it than proud of what got him started.

Imagine a Lamborghini riding lawnmower. :D

Actually Masaertti is the oldest of these cars and has a great racing pedigree. For the most part every Italian I have ever met in Italy, loves both the Ferraris and Lamborghinis about the same. Concerning Alfas, Most of the following I have seen is behind tow trucks.

you know, if you can't even spell the guy's name properly...

Ferruccio was a great industrialist. That's what allowed him to build cars. I'm sure he was very proud of the tractors...that's what got him going.
