Jack, they have added you in Owner's Section go find the thread!
Great find. Quick story of this book. When it first came out, I bought 2. At the time, i was making a Ferrari collage (sp)? so i bought one to keep and one to cut out the Ferraris so I can put it in the collage. Just felt like sharing that....
I would add "Salute to Ferrari" by Klemantaski and Alexander to my Ferrari essentials, among the ones you mentionned.
Just acquired the Ferrari 6th Edition by Hans Tanner and Doug Nye. I agree with you Jack! As always in collecting books, looking for the next one(s)...
Autoweek is offering a Racing photgraphy Summer Camp or something...a week's instruction, I thought about giving it to my son, Scott
I also have just purchased this book, for the grand sum of $11 from TE Warth no less! Has your copy arrived and how do you find the content to be? My photography skills have been improving over the years, but could definitely do with some help. Another couple to add to the list of must have Ferrari books are David Bull's publications - Ferrari Formula 1 by Peter Wright and Ferrari The Prototype Era 1962-73 in Photographs by Alan Henry. Cheers Matt
That would be very cool to do. I can take all the pics I want at Laguna Seca. I have all the acces I need there. Even then I would love to take that course. I just more or less need to learn how to use the camera properly. I.E. What Settings for certain photos. Studio, Lighting set-up and so on. Great price you paid. My bbok came and it is near perfect. I love the content. I flipped through it. I just need to actually take the time to read the info.
I have both the Piper book and the Massini 250 LM books ,and the Piper is a very lavish oversize coffee table book with some outstanding photography and is truly a work of art. The smaller Massini book has a bit more information IMO and extensive photos. The Piper book is truly an "art" book, whereas the Massini book is more geared to straightforward information. He has each car by serial number and it's respective history. Both are great if you love the 250 LM. The Massini book was from 1983 and the Piper book was from 1988.
Thanks for your answer. There was one on eBay, unfortunately I was outbeat... Just one additional question: is the photography mostly race related?
There are several chapters in the book. One deals with photos of racing, there is a chapter with details i.e. chassis parts, gas tanks, etc. The portfolio of color shots is nothing short of spectacular.Very high quality color photos of one 250 LM.So it's not just race related shots. As a side note,i used to work with a gentleman that drove his 250 LM to work on occasion ! Now that was a sight,a race car on the street .
Has anyone bought a copy of Rebel Rebel by Marc Sonnery and Keith Bluemel? I think I'll be buying a copy this week, the only place I have seen it for sale is Velocetoday's website.
hmmmm! I spotted it on the Veloce Today website and after reading the review it looks like a jewel of a book. http://www.velocetoday.com/archives/6827#more-6827 http://www.velocetoday.com/products-page/books-on-ferrari Maybe they are just taking pre-orders, have you heard different? Cheers Matt
I plan to buy it. The author is a member here. Book has been discussed in the Vintage section. As far as I know it hasn't reached the retailers yet. Jack.
Hey all.....been lurking for a while, and hope you won't hold it against me..... I wonder if anyone has any information that they can share for me.... A while back, a book was put out, limited edition, and featured in Cavallino magazine to order. I think it was called "Ferrari Formula" , and came with a set of art prints as well, all nicely boxed, and numbered.....I've looked on the web, and can't find it. (Anyone with a set of Cavallinos from a few years back will maybe remember the full page add....the book cost about $1000 or so.....). Anyone know about it ? My reason for asking, is that I have one....in storage, and a pain in the ass to get out right now...(recent move....), and I am considering selling it...E-bay perhaps... Can anyone advise me ? Also..... The Brock Yates Enzo Ferrari bio....someone had said it was worth a bit.....is it ? Hope someone can help....if not, cool....don't want to be a bother, as I know I am not the most prolific poster around here.... hps
Hi I recall the "Ferrari Formula" boxed set. Put it on Ebay, or in a top quality auction; one with Ferrari content. It is hard to find these days. The Brock Yates book is worthless. On Amazon.co.uk there are good condition used copies from 1p (about 2cents). On Ebay.co.uk they are £2.74 ($4) including p&p. Hope this helps, Nathan
What's the word on Karl Ludvigsen's new book on Colin Chapman? Given the subject and Karl's track record I have high hopes. Thanks, David
David I just ordered this book through The Motorsport Collector. The book will be available for general release in the US in the fall, but TMC are having some signed copies air shipped by the end of this month. Without a doubt it should be a great book, as Karl doesn't write trash. Here's the link if you are interested, orders need to be taken before Monday! http://www.motorsportcollector.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=51&products_id=3955&zenid=1adec43149d54b69132250e6fd15b5cc Cheers Matt
Thanks. It was an E-Mail from them that brought it to my attention. We had Karl speak at a local event a while ago and I asked him to autograph a book on Mercedes that he wrote in the fifties. Quite astute and a nice guy to boot. David
Don't know if it will be the next one, but I have a pre-order on this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Book-Ferrari-288-GTO-Bible/dp/1845842731/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274707231&sr=8-1 Can't wait
