It seems that special interst cars such as Miuras, Lp400, S1, S2 and QVDD are getting top Euro. There are a few Countach cars for sale in Europe at quite expensive prices, the fully sorted 400S cars and QVDD are in the 180,000-190,000 Euro range. If the cars don't sell, the sellers will not let go for less, after a while it becomes the "standard" and then they sell. That is why a F.I. QU is a good deal at 120,000.

Sorry to say, but European spec cars has different look. Engine specs are also different in european cars. (I think after 20 years power difference does not matter... old car is old car, but carburator just sound so much better.)

Today I think it was a crime against motoring world by US-goverment to make cars look bad... :(

    Good observation.

The car was purchased in the USA for less than $100k a few weeks ago and is now for sale at $162k (120k Eu).

I think this is the key. Any car that has the original boyhood dream look is going to be very valuable in the future. Eventually US bumper cars are going to be discounted by the cost of removal and restoration. When the cars get more valuable they will all be restored without the crimes of the US government. (I think sideskirts will go too).

When the 35-40 year olds now have dispossable income in 10 years or less these countaches will cross the 1M mark like muiras did this year. Watch.

    Emilio:

I think some variants of Countach are expensive already, all things considered.

    There is so many variables that makes cars price;

-General oppinion is group of people making same decision to buy car, more people makes that same decision more presure is to value.

-Look, does car look good? No matter howmany horsepower does it have or how fast it goes, if car looks good then there are buyers for it. We all have to remember that normally people do not have clue how car like Countach feels like to drive. Most of people have not even heard one running. That means people are making decision from looks.
Seriously, would anyone think from that elegant orange car in that picture, that there is basicly prototype-serries racecar under that bretty color with fire breathing V12, that is with gearbox, almost same size that car itself and as you drive one it feels like engine is abaut to come ask from driver "Why do you not rev it more?"

-Age, from what period is car from and product from each decade has it own buyers. (Ie "car poster factor") and do they got that extra money?

-What does it cost to own one.

    John,

    I hope you are correct.

However the Countach has at least two negative factors, when comparing the collectibility, in relation to the Miura.

    #1.

Production #'s. The factory produced a lot more Countach autos, in relation to the #'s of Miura autos.

    #2.

Rust or lack of. The factory Miura has the ability to rust. With that, you had over the years, a few cars, that were permitted to become basket cases. I believe the bulk of the Countach autos that were produced, were treated well, from day one. The Countach does not have the rust issues, that can occur with a factory produced Miura. How many Countach basket cases are around ?

The cost to maintain the Countach - clutch service. Both cars are reliable, after they are sorted correctly and driven on a semi-regular basis.
