My starter now, every few starts, the bendix ricochets off the starter ring and does not engage. Hit the button again and all is well. It did it once yesterday. Did it twice today a few starts apart. I called MAG on Columbus and they are going to come and get it. About 4,400 miles on the California since Dec 5.

Anyone else with a similar problem?

Hopefully they don't keep it long, I am hooked on it!

Any idea how hard it is to get to the starter?

Oh yah ... should add ... very sad ... but it will be back, even if not soon enough.

Sorry to hear Rick. But its all good mate, should be an easy starter motor change out and you will be back on your way. :D:D

Starter motors on 'normal' front engined cars usually live on the side of the engine/down low. It should be easy to get at from underneath in the Cali. :):)

Hope you have her back soon mate! Good to hear you are still enjoying every mile! :):)

Thanks Pap, yep, should not be long, in the mean time they are fixing a couple other minor things without me having to drive it down there.

I have had the gas cap issue once, my warning light comes on some times to tell me I am low on washer fluid (I've never used any!), but haven't had the door handle or starter issue yet. I only have 1,000 miles so far. It's good for us to post these things though so we know what to look out for. Wonder if others have had the ww issue?

Yep, my washer fluid warning comes on once in a while at startup. Irritating but ignored as it happens about once every two months with lots of driving.

Mine did that as well until I filled the washer fluid tank. I don't think they put much in it from the factory

It is on its way back! Turns out that the 599's have the same problem all the time. Seems that the paint needs to be removed from the chassis where the ground strap from the engine is fastened. They fixed that and replaced the driver's mirror and messy stickers in the driver's door and it is on its way back to Toledo! Happy day!

That's good news Rick! BTW what was the problem with the stickers? I have an issue as well and was wondering if it's the same...

I have messy stickers too! But thankfully no started issue. It's like they just didn't put good sticky stuff on the stickers.

I have messy stickers too! I didn't pay it much mind until you brought it to light. I asked my dealer to fix them too. They said it will be several months because they must get them from the factory. Months??!! I thought the factory was in Maranello, not Pluto! An engine can be shipped from Malaysia in 2 days.
    Oy!

What stickers are you referring to? Do you mean the small bits of transparent film to protect the paint? If so, my stickers were really messy too. My 4 year old could put stickers on better than that!

The lower sticker was filled with a bazillion large bubbles. The top one simply did not stick. I was so happy to get the car today that I did not look at the new stickers ... be right back ... So, I went out and looked. The top sticker is no longer there and the bottom sticker may very well be the same old bubbled one. I will check with them in the AM. I am not too worried, the car still sounds like a million bucks!

I was told today that all it needed was removing the paint from under the ground strap at the frame and all was well.
