Not bad, I like it. Except u need to pre-progarm the car to drive it! Geez Unfortunately, a little dated by now. Was looking @ one recently. Huh? Which car? Speaking of the boot, I need to pick up some luggages recently & found that neither my 911 nor the 456 has a useful boot, forget about mid-engine F & L cars too. So, only these Q cars fit the bill. Can't bring myself to pay Q-car money so bought a cheap saloon to do it.
Nah it's some gentlemen's agreement that was established between MB, BMW and Audi quite awhile back. Porsche refused to take part in their agreement because they felt it went against their philosophy. I don't think VW was invited cause their cars were too slow
What exactly does Q-car stand for? The 456's boot isn't large enough? I thought that most front engined Ferraris had tons of boot space.
Guys, I found an '87 328GTS in KL today. Most reasonable price. Say it's the price in Sg some 15yrs ago? Paintwork is good & engine is done but a little tired in the cabin, instruments etc. Will need a full strip down for 80% concours which is probably a S$30-50K job & still worth it. However, a 355Berlinetta can be had for about S$150K over here now. Which one do u guys think is a keeper? The 355 will outperform in everyway but this is more of a showcar driveabout than trackday stuff. Maintenance on the 355 is expensive. They made lesser 328s than 355s. There is no COE & annual inspections. Roadtax is very cheap once it hits 25yrs old. Another problem is I'll need to find a proper place to park them!
Might maintenance on a 328 be even more expensive due to the lack of expertise and parts for the car? The car is as old as I am!!
The R35 actually does very well in this department. A true all rounded supercar! Maybe just the soul part is lacking?
Goes back to WWI or II when some Royal Navy destroyers were disguised as merchant ships to bluff enemies then take em on surprise. Something like that. In the past, Q cars were really sedate looking saloons, started with E28 being M-ed. I stand corrected. These days, we pay so much money for these S, AMG & Ms that we want it to look really fearsome. About the boot. Yes, try fitting a full size luaggage & you'll have problem. (Throwing it @ the back seat of your lovely coupe damages the cabin) Gallardo & Murcie are they worst lot. That's why people buy souped up saloons. Oh yes, I forgot about the Maserati GT again & maybe it's boot is good.
308/328s are the cheapest F cars to maintain, very basic and very reliable. Just old school with lousy aircon, dim lighting etc but that's the charm right? 355s cost a lot more for basic maintenance and that's not counting the 3 yearly belt jobs. Parts for 3X8 cars are easy to get esp from UK. Jon - Get both! Seriously just get the 328. Evergreen car and you can still get your performance kicks from the 997TT or the 456. If you had to choose only 1 car then maybe the 355 is the all rounder. 3x8s are slower than Golf GTIs but the overall sensation is still shiok.
No But I wouldn't go as far as to say that I'm cheap I think driving a car made in 87 would be quite difficult and inconvenient because it doesn't have any of the technological comforts or reliability that we are used to.
Yep, lousy aircon, no power steering, slow windows.. you must really like these cars to live with them BUT if there is a will, then there is a way! Use solar film + change to modern aircon compressor (not easy to do) and it becomes a little more livable. Power steering, well the testa boys need bigger muscles than the 3x8 boys.
