I was just thinking what would have happened if MS would have had his say in who his codriver would be. As it was, Rosberg was picked first, but what if it had been the other way round?

What if Schumacher had picked a Bruno Senna or some other poor soul he considered slow?

And what if that driver actually would have been slower than MS (no idea whether Senna would actually be slower)?

Imagine the 10th place by MS would be the best result and the measuring stick:

Mercedes, Brawn, Haug would be covered with criticism for letting the champ down and for ruining his comeback. The Merc CEOs might have to cut heads of their F1 team to keep the public happy.

I'm sure that thought occured to Brawn & Co. and silently they're happy, that Rosberg has shown the world what their car is capable of.

Thing is Haug wants German, and IMO, off the top of my head none of the German drivers are crap.

Glock? He's actually not crap but I'm sure MS could handle him the majority of the time

    Other Germans he could handle:

    - Winkelhock Jr.
    - Schumacher II
    - Hans Stuck
    - Bernd Schneider
    - Jochen Mass
    - Danner

    Great question Andreas.
IMO GREAT drivers win 3 or 4 WDCs if the stars align.
You win 7 by stacking the deck and a big Ace card is your "Team-mate".
MS has been calling the shots so long and doing the backroom deals to ensure the team revolved around him alone.
I assume he is very leery of Mssr Rosberg. One of Nico's cards is his old man. Been there done that. MS wont be pulling wool over a new hires eyes.
I do respect MS's accomplishments but with Nico as first hire the playfield is level.

IMO both should work togeather to help their own individual benefits.
MS is the wise old Fox and Nico is familiar with Today's cars.
There is no doubt in my mind that Nico is bringing it all to every race. The motivation dial is set to 11.
I hope he can keep it pegged there.
If Nico and MS work TRULY as team-mates Mercedes and themselves will benefit.
If it's mistrust then they wont get to the top unless the engineering department has a breakthrough.

Well, according to Finland's MTV3, Haug just went to record with a statement that Nico may be the fastest of all the F1 drivers. He said that he believes so because the current Mercedes is nowhere near optimal.

Maybe Schumacher did have a say in who is teammate was. He possibly picked Rosberg, because he is capable driver who is quick, but at the same time be his number 2. I am sure Rosberg knew that coming into Mercedes and thats probably why he has been so fast. Kind like Jenson Button was suppost to be number 2.

    How about this twist?

Is it possible that Schumi is sad bagging? Meaning that, he knows he isn't gonna win the championship this year so.................. he is testing for next year? After all that is what Ross did when he took over the Honda team. Ross knew that the rules were gonna change for the next season, and that there was no way that they would win the championship that year, so they just used the season as a test bed for the next. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if that is what's up their sleeve.

Think about it. With the current rules there is no off season testing allowed. The only way to do it, is to test this year for the next. Okay so Nico looks better than Michael, big deal. It's not like Rosberg will win the championship anyway, so let him go flying around the track while they are getting ready for next season.

I think it will take a couple of years, just like it did when Schumi first went over to Ferrari, then WATCH OUT.

That is why I have said I am glad he went to another team. Schumi returning and not being fast at Ferrari would have torn that team apart.

It can be quite possible. I wouldn't say he is sandbagging, but he is however developing the car where next season the car will be made around him.

That might be possible if the rules were fixed or at least stable.
IMO this is one of the reasons they are not in that teams are cornered by last minute FIA rules changes to focus on this years season not next years.

China should have been his then given the rain equaliser and his first position on track after the first series of pits.
He's definatly great but fastest ?
I was disappointed by his third place.

Nico is clearly driving a car he is more comfortable with. As I have stated beofre, MS needs a car stiff as a skateboard, with zero understeer and super-sharp turn-in. This car is clearly NOT that.

Watch Nico's driving style compared to Michael's. Nico drives a lot like Button in that he is smooth and you can always tell what he is going to do. MS is very quick and sharp in his motions making him unpredictable at times, especially if tires are not how they need to be.

It took MS a couple years to win with Ferrari due to car issues. The same is true currently. FA, LH, FM all sucked the past couple years due to car issues.

In recent news (very recent), Mercedes has announced the chassis for Schuey in Spain will be a little longer, while Nico's will remain about the same. The weight distribution in the car is not right especially for Schuey's sharp driving style. Also, the team experimented with a tube rear wing in China although Brawn explains this is a sompler version of Mclaren's f-duct. Essentially it is an integrated non-driver operated f-duct operating passively. The driver-operated f-duct system is still in the works and will hopefully be ready for Barcelona.

    What if, what if, ?????

There are more important "what if" questions,

What If : you could stop a bad habit that you have, what would you stop?

What If : you had 25-hour days (while everyone else continued to have 24-hour days), what would you do with the extra time?

What If : you had the opportunity to be different, what would you change?

What If : you were told that you were going to die tomorrow, what would you do today?
