Yes, I'll grind a groove and weld it inside the port so I know it's sealed.

    Thanks.

I tapped the purge preflow regultor so it's on and off with the valve and I think that is what you will want to do to. There can be a lot of volume inside the tubes and I don't think you want the purge on/off with the torch.

At first I didn't understand the change (to bolting on the throttle bodies) but now I do and looks so right.

Thanks. It's more work but I think it will just be better...I'm not married to the TBs, less chance of something getting knocked, nothing standing above the cam surface to make surfacing easier, it should make handling the heads for assembly easier....just all around better....it looks like it cost me 1-2 week though.

Head 2 angle cut. Ports tomorrow.

Are you bolting the TB's directly to this new flange?
That wil do away with the manifolds you just fabbed up, correct?

    No

They will be part of the now bolt-on intake manifold, just a little shorter because of the noew flange material I added.

I'll make that one next, first I need a place to bolt to. I raised the ports putting the top of the port well off the original flange.....so new flanges need to go on the heads to give me a surface to bolt to. This is way I was thinking of just welding the manifold directly to the head, but I think bolt-on will work out better in the long run.

I got started a little later this morning so I only got 4 ports done. Also I'm noticing a slight difference in the location of the bottom of the port head to head...I'll need to fix that.

I did some calling around today trying to find a local shop that can do the things I can't so I don't need to ship stuff out to Wi. The Local ferrari dealer recomended a couple places and between them I think everything is covered. So, in a couple weeks when I finsh welding on the heads I now have a place to line bore the cam jounal and when I finally get my pistons off the delivery truck the other place can do the balancing the way I'd like it done.

It looks like 1 more day on the mill for head #2...then I think head 1 will go back up to get the bottoms of the ports matching better. FInish welding on the weekend it looks like.....and then off for decking and cam line bore the following week.....maybe.

Head #2 is off the mill. Tomorrow head #1 goes back on for a little more work on the bottom of the port but that wil go fast and it will be time to weld.

I realized I'd need run a 308 with the heads/cams from the V12 an since this is the 308 section I thought I should. the heads flow more than the engine needs so I add an 85mm bore which helped.

Productive morning. I got the bottoms of head one matching the bottoms of head 2 and then welded the outside of the flanges on both heads. I need to prop and weld the insides now then a finish cut on the flange.

I got the stuff I ordered from GT parts.

It seems the difference between the $60/shell 360 bearings and the $10/shell 308/400/.... bearings is the way the little tab is formed. On the 308 bearing it looks like what I'm used to seeing and on the 360 it must be stamped from the end then machines to leave the inner bearning clomplete. For $50/shell savings I'll stick with the 308 bearings.

The main bearing I'm not sure about. The 400 bearings are a bit uncommon and were outy of stock at GT part, they had the much more common 365 bearning so I had them send a set to look at. The end bearnings for the 400 and 365 are the same so no problem there, they told me that. It's the middle bearings that are different. The 400 bearing is about 1mm narrower, my first thought was, "no problem, I'll cut it"...but that would put the oil groove out of center...I'll need to tink about it a bit be fore I decide if I really need to use the $100/shell ferrari bearnings instead of the $15/shell 365 bearing.

The $100 timing chain looks pretty much the same as the $500 ferrari chain. The link pins aren't swagged quite as nice, but I can live with that.

    see, I'm being cheap ;)
