    Sounds great..:)
People seem to enjoy things more when they know a lot of other people have been left out of the pleasure.

I've been thinking the same thing all along. Schumi and Brawn have had their heads together all season, but not for this years car, next years car. Schumi is just getting warmed up.

If he warms up any more, he's gonna melt into a puddle! I think he's done, I'll be surprised if he sees out the whole contract. He could prove me wrong but I don't think so. Kinda sad really.

The problem I have with predictions in the past, was Mosley and Bernie could make a total mockery out of them, now I hope things have changed.

Thats why I find it really hard to assess now, at the min you can more or less tell what driver has got it and the ones who are nearly there.

If we just use basic team mate comparisons MS does not look good, but if we figure that he may have given up on the present car and he is busy working with R Brawn on the next car, it could explain it somewhat, thats if of course he is burning the midnight oil to do that.

Next case MS is getting back used to the car, like he is a rookie, well IMO the last race MS should have been in his element, but appeared all out at sea, back in the day he would have been untouchable in those conditions, so is it just the car!! I would have expected a (Hamilton type rookie against FA at Mclaren) age must be a factor.

This is why I find it so hard to judge, in the past MS had built and moulded everything around him even down to a submissive team mate..Saying that though it does take brave words to rule out a Brawn and MS combination.

However there are so many variables with it, so is it about the planets lining up again for him, and can they now, well yes for sure

My main concern with him is the motivation, he lived for F1 before, but now is it a case of him just filling the void that it left when he finished, time and a new chassis will tell I suppose, he has showed some flashes of his race craft, in defending moves on LH.

On the other hand, Stirling Moss brings up a good point and could very well be the case, time will tell,
"I'm not sure he is taking F1 as seriously as he was earlier in his career. You need a compulsion to be there, you can't just do it for fun, and I don't think Schumacher has that compulsion anymore. To win you need to believe that there is no way anybody else can beat you and, frankly, I don't think he's in that kind of mindset. It seems as though this year is just part of his retirement rather than an extension of his career."

PlanetF1 Team-mate Wars article that MS either has lost his edge, planning for next year or his neck is bothering him more than he is letting on.

Can it really be the car when team-mate Rosberg finishes on the podium and MS is 10th?

If that's true then he shouldn't be on the track helping Brawn, rather in the paddock...

Either way, MBZ would probably rather have him win sooner than Nico.

Although it may not be apparent, his time on the track IS useful to Brawn.

If Rosberg wasn't as fast as MS, then Merc would have never known that their car is capable of getting to the podium. Their development focus would have been totally different.

Or as aquapuss states: Perception is reality.

I didn't intend this thread to turn into another MS guessing game. Rather a what-if scenario for the team and the car.

It's the same with any team, what if the driver was faster/slower...?

    Talent is talent.

What if MS swapped seats with Webber and reeled off 3-4 wins, Then what would you say?

I think you're missing my point.

Merc is in a unique situation as they have the allegedly fastest driver on board, but he completely underperforms. If there was no Rosberg, the team would have to assume their car is only capable of midfield performance.

    He wouldn't.

No it is not. You're still not getting it.

It's not about MS, it is about how a team can establish the performance of its car if they only got the drivers to go by. As it stands right now, the fact that Rosberg is fast, saved the day for Mercedes, Brawn and Haug.

That's precisely the problem. Or it would be if Rosberg wouldn't beat MS and show the team what the car is capable of.
