GS- No, relatively rare, but they look nice. But then I am partial to yellow Ferraris. From an earlier life. Taz Terry Phillips Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Taz, Lovely Giallo Plexi ... the tyres look disproportionately big?? 9" on the back with higher profile tyres??? A good friend had a pop-up in Blu Chiaro .. came up to Canberra in 1988 and whilst touring the hills driving around he hit a kangaroo at speed. Went home and needed suspension work on affected side, and came out Giallo Fly .. he still has it. I have many photos of the 'old days' and events in Australia and Monterey from '84 will have to convert one day .. have slowly started with slides!!
Philip- No, believe it or not, those are stock 215/70 15 XWXs on 7.5" wheels F&R, although I did put 9" 512 BB wheels on the rear later. What fools the eye was the black paint on the rocker panels, which went way further up than on factory paint jobs. Photos from 1978 in Clovis, New Mexico, where I was the only Ferrari mechanic for the only Ferrari in Clovis. SN 14009, Dec 15, 1970 build, one of the last plexi-cover Daytonas. Taz Terry Phillips
Creafield I belive that the double bubble leather pattern on the rear parcel shelf is the standard finish with the leather trim on the parcel shelf whereas the quilted pattern was an option as with the daytona style seats. cheers
The 2004 Grigio Ingrid 575M sold for $99,989. Here are the two treatments for the rear shelf. I have only seen the quilted treatment on early cars, so it may have been a carry-over from the 550. Could be it was available throughout production as part of the Scaglietti custom program, too. The quilting looks different in this photo because of blue stitching. Greetings 575 (Ps. we did meet at Concorso, but I have forgotten your christian name ... don't forget I am 61 ) The 'double bubble' I was referring to was the rear shelf of the one on Ebay Taz showed here a 2004 575 in Grigio Ingrid with Cuoio in post #370: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=139560244&dr_log=1722354&linkout=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-575-F1-USA-MY-04-2004-Ferrari-575M-Maranello-F1-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem19bba85562QQitemZ110522553698QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks The shelf is carpeted and doesn't look a very good fit, possibly loudspeakers ?? Philip C
Philip- Now I see what you meant. That rippling of the rear carpet on the raised section above the luggage shelf is pretty normal. Mine has done it, too. One of the reasons I want to put leather back there. Taz Terry Phillips Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's a nice Daytona, Terry. I'm partial to the early ones. Are you redoing it all in leather or using vinyl in just the rearmost section? Barry
Barry- All leather. Want to make sure the leather smell does not disappear. That ought to do it, although Zaino preserves the smell pretty well. Taz Terry Phillips
You'll have a whole lot more leather to smell nice in there for sure, Terry. But I was concerned about leather shrinkage back there right under the window. I've seen nice carpeted mats to cover the rear shelf but they don't cover the rear step. My car has the carpeted rear shelf. The carpet rippled in the past due to tracking the car. Classic Coach remedied that and it's been resistant to rippling even with more track use. Barry
Phil My Mistake I thought you were referring to the standard leather style . We did meet at Auto Italia. Cheers Joe
Henry asked me to explain the color coding on 575M springs for FHP/HGTC springs he intends to install. 575M springs are sold in matched sets of two springs, front and rear, and the pairs are color coded in classes based on spring strength. Depending on color, the shock absorber height from the lower fulcrum axis to the upper washer is adjusted by loosening the upper shock absorber ring nut and tightening or loosening the upper spring rest washer until the correct height is reached. The ring nut is then tightened to maintain that height. Two sets of values are shown, one for Euro cars and one for US cars. Either spec can be used since the parts are identical and height varies on the US version only to comply with DOT regulations on headlight height. If worried about that, go for it, but I would recommend the Euro spec for optimum handling. The difference in shock height is ~10 mm/0.4" lower for the Euro set-up. Here are the color classes, in this case for FHP springs, but the HGTC springs are close enough the same specs can probably be used. Incidentally, this is how the ride height is adjusted on most late model Ferraris. Taz Terry Phillips Image Unavailable, Please Login
Henry- Affirmative. The first "racing" entry is for Euro FHP cars. I have never seen anything changing these numbers for HGTC, so assume the settings are the same as FHP. The HGTC bulletin calls the HGTC suspension a development of FHP. Taz Terry Phillips
Dear Ferrrari friends, Thanks to all of you for posting in this thread especially, it has been a great help in choosing and buying my car! I can happily add a car here. It is a European 575M with manual gearbox and Handling GTC package. It was delivered new by Pozzi in Paris in July 2002 in Blu Pozzi with beige Daytona seats and carpets, carbon fibre dashboard, standard wheels and FHP. (FHP to be confirmed when I get the new car bill shortly) In March 2003 the car was upgraded to 19 inch wheels at Pozzi. Then in april 2005 it received the Handling GTC package without the exhaust at Rossocorsa in Milan and in november 2006 it got the Handling GTC exhausts fitted at the Ferrari dealer. The car now has 35.600 kms and is in a really nice condition. I expect to get her registered in The Netherlands in a few weeks time and then wll happily enjoy her. More info and photos are in the separate thread that I started on # 128905. Here are some details fir your records: Chassis number ZFFBT55B000128905 Engine number 68650 Assembly number 45989 Delivery July 12th, 2002, Ferrari Pozzi Paris Colour Blu Pozzi 521 D.S. (on the paint sticker) First French registration 575PPJ75 (Paris) from July 12th 2002 till 19th May 2010 Second (Monaco Export) registration 0119WW2MC from May 19th 2010 I am the second owner since May 20th 2010. Best regards, Michael
Michael- Congratluations. That sounds like a wonderful car and Carbon and I are very happy to see your car's numbers and the photos of your car in your other thread. Your 575M is the first I have seen with the HGTC kit added. I have a bunch of information on the kits, but have not had time to go through and fully document the kits. The kits were put out according to serial/assembly number and variously included CCM brakes and HGTC/FHP suspension and ECUs, F1 ECUs and perhaps hardware, carbon fiber instrument panel (I believe this was so the brake software could be processed through the instrument panel chip), modular wheels, and HGTC exhaust. More when I get more time to play with the data and I actually need more info before I can even do that. I will add your car to the list later today. Friday PM so beer time now and watch the Orioles and hunningbirds (birds) eat. Taz Terry Phillips
Dear Terry, Thanks for your enthousiastic response! Your and other Fchatters' detailed knowledge have really helped me as I said and still help me and will do so for a long time to come! It is interesting what you said about the carbonfibre dashboard, I must say I am not quite sure if the car came with that dashboard from new or if it was put in later. When I get the Pozzi new car bill shortly from the former owner, I will check that and post it here how she was configured from new. Maybe that helps. Actually I only dicovered the lovely carbonfibre dash after buying it on the flight home, after the Monaco historic GP weekend when my friend Fchatter Mick (8valve) showed me the pics he took on my camera that day. I was far too nervous and thrilled with the entire car and finally buying my dream 575M to have noticed it that day, ha ha ! Concerning cars having been retrofitted to HGTC, I have not seen any either except for the car that Basle dealer Nicky Hasler is offering on his site. A really beautiful dark red metallic 2002 car with HGTC also. Judging by the year it must be a retrofit also. Very low kms but a really high price and Swiss registered which put me off financially. Also I really wanted a manual 575 with HGTC so the choice was extremely limited. Eberlein had a 2005 one for quite a while but I did not really fancy the silver with black leather although the car was lovely otherwise. I think the high cost of retrofitting to full HGTC has and still does put people off. Kind regards, Michael
Michael- Looking at the other photos of your interior, the CF instrument panel was definitely part of the HGTC upgrade, because there are no other CF components in your interior, so you got another benefit. I put a Superamerica instrument panel in my 575M and thought I got an added benefit of a CF panel, but the CF panel was standard on the Superamerica. Enjoy it, the CF instrument panels look really good. Taz Terry Phillips Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Terry, could you maybe order just a CF instrument panel when ordering a new car? I also REALLY like the CF instrument panels, it also looks very good on your car too. Beautiful red stitching you have and the big yellow rev counter looks really good on your car. Something that would not look good on mine being all subdued colours with no SF shields etc etc. I really like all the differences in the various cars and can appreciate them all. So happy now having one I really like and is like I would have ordered from new. And at the same time very enthousiastic to see all the other ones and be truly happy for these owners too! Best regards, Michael
Michael- Only three ways to get a CF instrument panel (except for my way, I cheated) from the factory or a dealer. First is to order the full CF package as an original option. Second is to retrofit the HGTC package, which included the CF instrument panel. Third is to buy a new CF instrument panel, which is ridiculously expensive. Guess you could get one off a wrecked car, too, or busted, like mine was originally. Yours came with your HGTC package. Your car included in the attachment. No shields on my car, either. Two new 575Ms to add to the list. Ferrari of New England had a 2003 titanium and gray F1, SN 131537, Assembly No. 48573 that apparently sold for around the $95K asking price. On E-Bay is another F1 titanium car, this time with a white interior in immaculate condition from the photos. Black carpets, dash, and steering wheel contrast nicely with the white leather. For a brave owner who does not sweat too much. Taz Terry Phillips Image Unavailable, Please Login
