Yeah, Darth......if you have been in the car do you remember anything unique? Was it a valeo? The only real difference between the T and the 3.2 is the intakes and the back grate. Other little differences in interior too.

Found this article that was interesting on TMZ about how the car was the basis for OJ murdering her:

"OJ Simpson will appear on a FOX special, hypothetically describing how he could have murdered Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. First of all, strike the word hypothetically -- he's a killer. Second, I have a theory on how he killed them, and that theory led to a bizarre chase that was anything but low speed.

Rewind to 1994. I was the investigative/legal reporter for KCBS, the CBS affiliate in Los Angeles. The case consumed my life for nearly two years. Between wall-to-wall live coverage, live shots for other affiliates and everyone in my life wanting the latest dish, I was a one-note guy -- with a theory.

I think what happened on June 12, 1994 is that Simpson was in a rage after Nicole rebuffed and embarrassed him at a restaurant earlier in the evening. I believe Simpson sought revenge with a knife, a cap and gloves, but he didn't intend to slaughter anyone when he left his Rockingham residence sometime around 9:30 that night. I think Simpson planned to slash the tires of Nicole's Ferrari. Nicole would drive around town in her sports car looking hot and it drove Simpson crazy. The tires had been slashed a few weeks before the murder, and Simpson all but admitted to Nicole that he did it."

Yeah, I know - there are certain things that can be drawn, but we still dont have a definitive answer do we?? Was it a "T" or was it a 3.2??

I thought I read somewhere that Nicole drove a white 348 spider, not a Mondial. Don't quote me, but that's what I remember...

I seem to remember that it was a 348 as well. Not a Mondial, but I'm not 100% sure.

It's still possible that 73489 was once owned by Simpson, but so far there's no definitive answer. I can say that this 3.2 Cab was for sale at Symbolic in La Jolla in 1987. It was also for sale on eBay in September, 2009, in Staten Island, NY.

Has the Carfax been run yet? Previous registration history will pretty much answer this one.

EDIT: by the way, that plate (3RIF) was issued in 1996. That figures with the car's timeline, if she had vanity plates up until her death in 1994. If it was the car, it was probably sold after the trial and registered with those plates.

Yes. I bought it from staton island from a guy who had it shipped from socal and than sold it right away to me down in south mississippi. Thats why there are still cal tags on it.

Lots of speculation out there, but i think oj had two ferrari.....nicoles "L84AD8" (late for a date) mondial. And ojs "juices", i believe a testarossa but not sure as all i can find are unreliable articles.

Youd think there would be a photo or something tangible out there....

Keep in mind, ther was no FC then so documenting every aspect of the car for all eternity wasn't my first thought, as it is now of course....!!! ;)

What it was (at the time) was ME driving around having a great time in a drop top Ferrari with Nicole Simpson's boyfriend! :D

That makes it pretty clear that there were more than 2 white mondials.....I was thinking that quote on wiki was referring perhaps to a particular year of the mondi. Also, that looks like maybe 15" wheels? Something looks of on the wheels compared to mine.

Makes sense - and like I said, the timeline works. Did you run the Carfax?

Intriguing; how do you know this?

    OJ had a red Testarossa.

Just to clear things up, there are definitely more than two white Mondials. There are at least nine white Mondial 8s, at least 13 white QV coupes (14 if you count at least one that was repainted), at least 19 QV Cabriolets, at least two 3.2 Coupes, at least 21 3.2 Cabriolets, at least two t Coupes, at least 32 t Cabriolets, and at least three Valeo Cabriolets.

I ran a carfax when I bought the car in Sept. 09.......I was looking for accidents or title issues. I didn't see anything that was a smoking gun about who owned originally and didnt even take note or look. I just wanted to make sure it was "clean"

I'm surprised you don't! California plates have been issued in non-duplicated numbers since 1963. The order was

    AAA000 - ZZZ999 = 1963-1969 (black)
    000AAA - 999ZZZ = 1969-1980 (yellow on blue)
    1AAA000 - 1SZZ999 (or so) = 1980-1986 (yellow on blue)
2AAA000 - 2GPZ999 = 1982-1987 ("Golden State" tag with the sun - concurrent with the blue plates, except in mid-1987 when it was the only one offered)
    2GQA000 - 2ZZZ999 = 1987-1992 (white)
    3AAA000 - 3FZZ999 = 1992-1995 (white)
    3GAA000- 3ZZZ999 = 1995-1998 (Script)
    4AAA000 - 4NOZ999 (ish) = 1998-2001 ("Sesquicentennial - 150 Years")
    4NPA000 - 4ZZZ999 = 2001-2003 (Script)
    5AAA000 - 5ZZZ999 = 2003-2007 (Script)
    6AAA000 - present (nearing 6MAA) = 2007-now

Since plates stay with the car in California, this numbering format can be used as a reasonable - but inexact - measure of vehicle age. This actually probably puts the Mondial's plate in 1995, which seems more accurate based on the timeline anyway.

No problem - this isn't fail-safe, but it's a neat trick to guess vehicle age in California. The only bit to be careful of is the earliest plates. Since they replaced every old plate on the road in 1963, they went from AAA 000 through about L or M in the span of about a year.

Also keep in mind it's only good for date of first registration in California. If I brought my 2007 Volkswagen into California right now and registered it, I'd get a plate in the 6L series, which would indicate a 2010 model. However, you'll find that first registration in California is often first registration overall. Lots of car nuts out there and all :)

First registration is fine with me. The plates alone can help fill in history gaps, i.e., how long any given car has been in California. Very useful information; thanks, Doug!
