http://www.news-journalonline.com/breakingnews/2010/04/drug-charges-dropped-jc-france-reinstated-to-grand-am.html i heard it said...all the justice money can buy! what a zero talent punk!!!!!
yes! and shame on the sanctioning body...seems that as charges were dismissed on a technicality, the incident seemingly did not happen in the eyes of grand am either.
What a disgrace. This part of the article really upsets me. "Citing case law, the judge said that as a "general principle," police officers from one jurisdiction have no "official power" to arrest an offender outside the boundaries of their municipality.""
I can't wait until the day I race Rolex and see what this dude is all about. Like golf, racing reveals one's character.
I saw him at VIR a few weeks ago at a PCA event. He's not yet been seen at VIR this weekend even though he's listed as a driver with Action Express, the 24 Hour winners.
After witnessing J.C. France and his "posse" at the November Bella Maccina event at Daytona, all that may be said is what a bunch of low-lifes. RM
Are we laying odds on if he either: A) Gets busted again B) Starts another major shunt with ensuing fist fight at a GrandAM race* ...before the season is out? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bH_89Au8xL8&feature=youtube_gdata RM Image Unavailable, Please Login
He looks like a sh!tbag that's been filled way over it's allowable limit. Lucky sperm of the month club.
chas, i honestly hope you are correct. i just wish the ama could get out from under the mob rules before they ruin motorcycle racing too! pcb
the playing field is very level, I will give you guys that (especially in the Koni series), but GrandAm/Daytona 24 just doesn't have the relevance to fans or manufacturers that it used to. It's a NASCAR sideshow and little more. they're doing the same thing to motorcycle road racing; turn it into NASCAR on two wheels. I genuinely believe that the France family involvement in road racing, two wheel or four, was just a Machiavellian attempt at removing competition for NASCAR. letting the black sheep of your family become a name driver with one of the better teams is a great way to do that.
this post is totally on point! you have it nailed. no argument about the koni series however...the formula was hatched with the firehawk series back in 1985. it was good then and it remains pretty good. john bishop really was the man, damn i miss the imsa days!!!
Any series such as GrandAM wherein the president states, "We don't care about traditional sports car fans" and, "We want to make the cars irrelevant" wouldn't seem worthy of any attention. RM
Yes sir, quotes not taken out of context by Roger Edmundson, czar of all things GrandAM. Roger Edmundson is on record saying: "I have said for some time that one of our goals is to make the cars almost irrelevant, so we can focus on the drivers." Roger Edmondson told AutoWeek: "Were not concerned about tomorrow. Were concerned about three years, five years from now. At the end of the day, if its going to be commercially viable, it has to have spectators. We want a car that appeals to the casual fan, the fan on the street. Were not so concerned about the purist sports car fan." RM Image Unavailable, Please Login
I guess he's just trying to make it appeal to more mainstream fans. I think if he's going to focus on the drivers, he may want to emphasize that they be a better example off track. Thanks for the quotes, it's eye opening.
As noted on recent broadcasts of GrandAM races, the push to promote drivers "I Am GrandAM" far outweighs any mention of the cars, in fact the cars seem to be mere afterthoughts as there is rarely, if ever, mention of anything remotely technical. Sure, there are good drivers in GrandAM. Many accomplished in other forms of racing but at the recent Barbour event Scott Pruett was pronounced "The most accomplished sports car driver in history" (or something to that effect). So, are we to assume the history of sports car racing began with the advent of GrandAM? GrandAM starts coming off like politicians and their pundit ilk whom conveniently think history only began at the end of the last election cycle. Scott Pruett has been around a long time, accomplished in TransAM, GT and some real prototype racing (TWR Jaguar and Dyson Porsche come to mind). But to categorize Pruett as "Best Ever" is a bit of a reach; even Hurley Haywood (five 24 Hours of Daytona, two 12 Hours of Sebring, three 24 Hours of Le Mans victories) must roll his eyes at that. NASCAR were embarrassed whenever their races occured on the same tracks as IMSA GTP/WSC as routinely, the sports cars even down to GT1 and GT2 cars were faster than NASCAR. NASCAR and the ISC couldn't handle that as, of course in their minds, NASCAR is the be-all, end-all of motorsport. Second, there was always a lot of stick between Bill France, Sr. and Sebring founder Alec Ullmann. This carried over to 1997-98 when Andy Evans took over the Sebring lease, bought IMSA and started telling DIS how it was going to be done, even threatening to start an alternative stock car series to rival NASCAR. So, with the advent of GrandAM, NASCAR dumbed down the cars to the point where they would never be faster than NASCAR and they locked out the likes of Evans and Panoz from ever running the superior sports cars series on ISC tracks. Thus, Edmundson keeps on the narrative that the cars are irrelevant and traditional sports car fans don't matter. Is it working? RM
