In deepest, darkest Campbell, CA.... I know it's got the wrong badge, but it's still a beautiful car..... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's an awesome car--did you get to see it in action? I was at Road America crewing for the Runoffs a few years back and they had a vintage exhibition. That was one of the cars running, and I got to cross pit lane and stand track side, hearing it fly past from only a few feet away. You could hear the turbos chirp on the upshift. Nice photos!
Unfortunately not - It was sitting in the parking lot of a Porsche race prep shop as I was driving by - Normally they've got about a dozen 911's (and derivatives) laying around, but this caught my eye!..... Cheers, Ian
I saw it again Saturday at the HMSA races at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Beautiful. . . in that coolly efficient Porsche tradition. There's one in the Highcroft Racing collection just north of me. I have to manage to collect an invite one of these days to visit that "museum." BTW, Ickx and who? I assume that's the present owner listed on the door. . .
It is Ransom Webster's car.....just one part of his truly outstanding PORSCHE collection. It's been said that Enzo used to say he didn't have to invest money to create a Ferrari museum, as long as there was a Mas du Clos collection, because it contained just about every one of the specimens that a proper Ferrari museum would have had to display to have credibilty....well, so it is with Webster's collection relating to Porsches. He has just about every significant car the Company ever produced. Alas, he's a very private type and doesn't throw the doors open to a lot of visitors.
