Quite nice, though it does make the car's butt look a little chubby. Need to keep the 3 pipes, though. It's designed to work that way and not just for show.

It's amazing how people get so bent out shape by some one else posting a couple Photoshops, yours are nice and I'm not going to call them unless and ugly like you called mine. I'm not the type to rip into any ones work. I did those up quicky because I was wondering what a 288 could look like based off a 458, I didn't expect to be ripped apart like this.

Keep posting yours I'll look at them, but you won't get (your) negative comments from me even if I think they are ugly and useless. Remember everyone has different tastes, good thing
because it would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing. So that said ugly and useless may be a thing of beauty and useful to some one else.

Ok ok maybe I was a bit too crude. The thing that hurt me the most was the GTO abbreviation. I don't like it on the 599 neither. I think the GTO's had to remain only two: the 250 and the 288 (well, if you like also the '64 GTO).

The GTO models have always had a 12 cylinder engine so I thought it was incorrect to call the car 458 GTO and I still think we are not going to see another Ferrari GTO in the near future (HOPEFULLY IMHO).

Let's say that I prefer Photoshops "with feet on the ground" (= I don't like fantasy models). I think that the 430 Scuderia was a more appropriate reference than the 288 GTO.

Now that I looked at mine again I see that it had to have the three exhaust pipes. I think I will do another one starting from scratch and keeping the triple exhaust in a few weeks of time.

If only I had a graphic tablet... :(

Your right, that's why I thought a GTO based on a 458 mid engine North/South layout would be a perfect candidate.

You're correct, just as the 288GTO was based on the 308 (superficially at least). Trouble with your treatment is that just grafting on parts of GTO past is not the way to show us the GTO of the future.

I like playing with "what if or fantasy models", that's what sketching is all about. I like the last one you posted. I'm a retired designer and I still love to sketch and the Ferrari I did was something just to past the time.
You should buy a tablet it really helps, the GTO was done with a mouse.

Maybe I should have left GTO off of it. It wasn't meant to be a GTO of the future.
The 288 is a great looking car even to this day and it's still one of Ferrari's best. I found out it seems to be a touchy one with everyone to change or even propose replacing it.

I would prefer to see real pics of actual cars in this thread. Nothing wrong with starting a new thread to show photoshops and renders of your dream supercars though...

No, it's not that. I just think your attempt didn't work. I don't think anyone here feels quite that precious about the 288, wonderful as it is.

a maybe you should wander down to Joe's 288 GTO thread and take a gander. Over there it is more like a religion than a mere car...

    :)

It is, indeed, quite a seductive beast. I can see why fans might lose their minds.

I love the reflections in the 458. The rear is so unusual that you see things in this car that few others can duplicate. The darker colors seem to work best for me because of it.

I like it!!! I look forward to seeing what the actual challenge grill (if any) will look like on this car. :)

The 458 does seem to bend & reflect light on a whole new level, lots to look at. Even Jeremy Clarkson, who can be harsh at times said he thinks the 458 is strikingly beautiful. I agree.

Seeing the car in blue is hte first time I've liked the looks. The reflections do wonders on this car, esp in this color. I'm all about red/tan for a Ferrari, but perhaps that doesnt work for this model.

Cant wait to see in person.

well any dark color looks great as it disguises the chinless front end design disaster, bring on the Spider though, this will be the car to own, not the Coupe, why would ANYONE; want a coupe when you can have sunshine and hear the engine without any compromise ???????????????

If only it was without compromise. More weight, less rigidity, suspect styling - there's compromise alright with a Spider.

Because some of us prefer the looks and driving of a coupe.

Ive really come to like the hindquarters of this car. Especially in photos where you can see the concavity/dip between them and the greenhouse.

I still dont like the rear 'mustache' and the front isnt aggressive enough for my tastes, but overall not a bad job.
