    Wow - what a read!!!

Dont know what really happened, but I hope that it all works out as it should in the end - whatever that may be.

I also hope that the cars are not crushed, but are saved and go somewhere they can be enjoyed and run properly.

    Exactly.

But for them, the "game" becomes as addicting as the drug they're selling. Why stop at $50mil when you can make $100 mil? Just ask any gambler how tough it is to stop when you're "up".

Just something a little off-topic that I was wondering:

He was obviously very close to Ferrari and a high-priority customer, seeing as he did always claim to get one of the first cars of each model like the California. Now evidently his identity was quite easy to tell from his user-name and posts, so I was wondering if Ferrari would have actually cared when he came here to spread true 'rumours' months ahead of announcement on cars such as the 599GTO?

While that is true 99% of the time, I know someone (importer/exporter so to speak) who set a goal, reached it and checked out at 32.

He now lives a very comfortable life on an island near me.

for some reason this song reminds me of icemanbops

No matter how big you are, how high you climb, you're still NOTHING. Compared to this universe. Its all about the little things in life, like learning to ride a bike.. Gotta learn how to enjoy those. Because then its human nature to try to ride it with no handle bars.. then try to pop a wheelie.. etc. Till you get to people killing whole nations in holocausts just to get what they want. Because they couldn't just stop. So all of you consider yourselves EXTREMELY blessed. If you own a Ferrari, a BMW, or even a car at all.. Because you're not part of the millions of people who go to sleep hungry every night.

I suspect that, if these are all the same person, he maintained a couple of
identities as IceManBops, Alex, and Mike could be the same person.

The internet IDs were where he bragged about his cars and life style.
Mike could have been the one that paid those public bills due to the reference
that a couple people know him as that name. Surin could be a given name.
Hard to say exactly given the news that we have seen thus far.

But, a couple of names associated with the same person in a criminal indictment
is not unknown. More facts will have to come out before that can be determined.

+1......it is about greed and status - there is status in the drug culture and that may be the toughest thing to give up for most of these guys.....By the time they are making real money they are insulated from the street deals. They usually get "done" by their most trusted "friend". When you are weighing prison time, and some of these offenses carry life sentences, there is no such thing as "friendship".

The story continues that the thief/fraudster/cat burglar never testified against the "Boss" [in the UK] , or his crew... yet only received 2 years.

It makes me wonder if the heat was on to the "boss" when the article was published.

Thats interesting, Mike Boparan is the same age as Alex Surin.....

30 years old in late '95 in that article posted by Wax and according to the Sun, Alex is 44.

That just seems to be too much of a coincidence... ;)

BLAMPEE Man Card Status: Never Issued

This is, unfortunately, the way most dealers get caught.

If the DEA didn't have GD rats then they wouldn't make half the busts they do.

The heartbreaking thing is, however, that those who do get caught never expected it would be their "friend" who turned on them. It's an immensely difficult lesson to have to learn.

Did you not read the previous post? What's the difference what this guy did and a pharmaceutical company or any large business? He provided a product demanded by the population and deemed illegal by a band of beurocrats. Are you aware most of todays illegal narcotics were available at your local pharmacy 80 years ago? To get to the level he was at, takes ridiculous risk, work and dedication. 99.99% of the population are not willing to serve life in prison for a fleet of supercars, he was. It's only a crime because the government designated it, why aren't you blaming all the users?

This is the same as when the US wrecks South American nations because Americans are using unheard of levels of narcotics. Now I am not praising his chosen career path. He chose that path and weighed the consequences, but to say that it doesn't take hard work and is easy money is absurd. Why aren't all the "dealers" rolling in enzos then ?

"Did you not read the previous post? What's the difference what this guy did and a pharmaceutical company or any large business?"

Well, the pharmaceutical has to develop the drug and demonstrate safety and efficacy in clinic. If thier drug kills someone they have to answer to a court of law.

the drug dealer in constrst exists outside the law. he can dominate a market by killing his competition. that's easier than risking millions to develop a superior cancer therapy than whats approved for sale now.
