I am amazed by this thread. There's someone in jail, who may or may not be guilty. That is something no one here can say. Someone was allegedly in the drug trade (I would think that if it is him, and he was operating at the scale required to afford these toys, a bump from Drug Dealer is in order) and he is currently being investigated by the legal system. Respected members here are quoting ridiculous sources (Jalopnik has no credibility as a source, they troll around the web looking for a scoop to drive traffic, not the most reliable source IMHO). What I think ended up happening was FC and Jalopnik are feeding each other speculated information. They read the forums, write about it, and then members here write about the article, rinse and repeat. There has been no official statement linking the forum member icemanbops to the person arrested right now. I have to admit, answering to a few car enthusiasts probably isn't LEO priority, but this entire thread is based on speculation. I don't see how you guys can automatically jump to conclusions and tarnish a man's name based on internet rumours. Why not let the law run it's course? We'll all know soon enough, and I wouldn't want to know I spoke ill of an innocent man. Just my two cents.
Daniel's quote comes from basically a white pages directory which states that Michael, Alexander, and his brother all share the same residence. If that isn't an association, I don't know what is. That said, it is ~plausible~ that they were merely friends of the man arrested. However, Micheal's prior conviction (overturned) was one where he even pleaded guilty to massive identity theft. That is a matter of public record.
I agree. If someone wants to put themselves at legal risk, that's their right though. I think most users have protected themselves through just posting facts, opinions, or theories. Not sure how much of that is actionable.
I'm glad we're on the same page rob. People have been found "not guilty" with much more than that! Best not to meddle...
what does that have to do with guilt/ not guilt? The facts are that Iceman is associated with Alexander. The most definitely had interactions between each other in their shared address. Those are the facts. We will let the legal system meddle.
I can't believe that there are people on this thread that are actually saying that there is incorrect information on the internet!! We all know everything on the internet is true! Just ask Wikipedia........
I remember the same when Scott Rothstein was busted...and those that defended him..and we all know how that turned out....
I'm more amazed by the attention this is getting here and how there are members posting I dont even recognize.
Small Hijack - the Rothstein auction is coming up - a list here: http://blogs.trb.com/news/local/south_florida/blog/2010/04/rothstein_exotic_car_yacht_auc_1.html
Unreal how quick this thread has grown onpage 13 ( unlucky for some no punt intended)., but wouldn't it be amazing if icemanbops returns to check out fchat after being stuck on a beach in the Maldives after no flights available to return him home after his holiday. However as I said before I think the era for this kind of life and lifestyle is or has drawn to an end, I know of somebody who lived this kind of life and was pretty high up the chain, and was under investigation, even going back something like 15 years, as they could never catch him with anything they got to him through the paper trail, and as he couldn't really account for his big farm and money and cars they were to seize them under proceeds of crime, he tried to stop this by partying hard with friends on a fairwell weekend sent everyone packing and went to the barn to shoot himself. Hoping this would stop police seizing his family home, but it didn't and unfortunatly his wife and kids were left homeless and father less. Sad. Amazing how a few wrongly chosen decisions when you are young and vunerable/impressionable, can cause such havoc to you and others close to you later on in life.
Its also plausible that Michael in Parallel has his own collection of almost exactly the same number of super rare exotic cars totally separate to the cars that were confiscated from Alex by the Spanish police. think about that hey! Afterall its pretty common for a car collector to have 2 enzos. Edit: It would be good if someone in spain was able to get pics or info on the cars being held there......
Do you mean pun? (I don't see where there's a pun; maybe I'm missing something.) Or no "punt" intended, as in, "Punt him in the a$$."
