Serious question and I'm in no way trying to make fun of Mondial owners because I do love the Mondial and have been looking at getting one to share my F garage. I've had this discussion with others and some have agreed that the Mondial is a "chick" car, by that...a car that a woman looks good driving in, and for guys ::shrugs::???

What do you think? Personally I love the cabriolets and it doesnt put me off on a purchase of one, but do you agree or not?? Thanks (btw I'm not a chick :)

My wife has a Mondial t Cabrio and she looks great driving it. I don't look good driving anything so it doesn't concern me all that much. The Mondial is underrated if you ask me. Although it may not look as good as the two seater Ferrari of the era, if you want a back seat or leg room the Mondial is the way to go.

    Having identity issues?

While you may, as you say, not be a chick you certainly do come across as one who's...

I heard that a few times when I drove my Alfa Spider, which incidentally had the same color combination as my Mondial, Black with Tan Leather....

But I haven't heard anyone call any Ferrari a Chick-car...and lack of power steering disqualifies it!

Look, any traditional looking Ferrari is a "chick car" in that they are sensually elegant. Ingrid Bergman drove a one-off 375 MM for g&d's sake and if you ever read Enzo's biography, you will know he was quite taken with her.

All the traditionally beautiful Ferraris from the 375 America to the 365 California looked equally stunning with an elegant woman behind the wheel as they did with Steve McQueen.

    if you have any questions:

I am very comfortable lumping my Mondial in with such company :)

There is nothing unique about a Ferrari, any Ferrari, that makes them a male only car. Its not like you have to plug your balls into the cigarette lighter in order to start them ;)

Thanks for being such a sport. ::rollseyes:: If you re-read my OP I stated I will likely be adding it to my garage, I'm not worried about how I look in the car, just was wondering since I've heard others state it is in their opinion, not mine. In fact, I disagreed with them and think the car is quite sporty, as much as the 348 IMO>

I've heard people say that Ferraris suck and that engine design ended with the pushrod 350. Hell, I prosecuted a drug dealing prostitute once who had two children-- Red Jello and Blue Jello.

Generally speaking, "people" are morons. I am sorry to be the one to break this to you. Moving forward, you will probably be better served not worrying about them and focusing on you.

However, if you are worried about being considered a chick while driving a Mondial...I would definitely refrain from wearing a dress and makeup while driving one...it works for me ;)

    Yeah, it's a chick car......not a bad chick though.....

I love my 3.2 mondi cab. Seriously though, it's definitely not a chick car. For example, you have to be pretty manly to turn that steering wheel lock-to-lock (no PS) when parking...not many women can do that. Frankly, in that regard, it's a more manly car than many modern ferrari's with power steering, power seats, headrest warmers, lipstick heaters....

Sorry, as a non-subscriber with a blank profile combined with a low post count and asking if a certain Ferrari was a "chick" car... ;)

Anyway... Mondials are great cars but sometimes it's just not worth explaining it to a non-enthusiast or the uninformed e.g. your discussion with others.

I vote chick car. I have an 83 cab.

True stories about the Mondial. I took it up to A-basin to ski one spring. I asked if I could park it on the beach, and of course they said yes. With the top down, several rather tasty ski-bunnies hopped in and took pics.

Had it at a restaurant in Dallas, and a chick asked if she could sit in it and take a pic, I said yes. A few weeks later I was at a gas station and a chick asked if she could hop in the pax seat. Of course I said yes.

Really and truly a chick car. It's a curse.

Given that I have never seen a woman driving a Mondial--including the one I bought for my wife--I would guess it's a manly car! LOL! ;)

Daddy let his little girl drive the Mondial to the Prom, and a lot of the Mondial guys here are calling it a chick car, so who am I to disagree with owners and drivers. As for me, I never thought of a Mondial before as a chick car and the first photo didn't make me think it was.

Maybe I should get one for my daughter and ask to borrow it once in awhile.
