The person that sent it to me is an ex-Brunei mechanic who kindly asked me to remove his face from the picture if I ever published it, I think I should honor his request, that is of course if you dont mind Mr. Sackey

I completely understand if you had a standing agreement, but you did not clarify this prior. Also, it appears no photo-shopping was needed, and it was just a matter of cropping the image. Thanks for sharing it.

    Joe,
Will you PM the "comment" on that 288gto for sale in PA as well? thank you.
Anybody else notice in their photos it now has 2506 miles on their website, not 1500 as stated? Usually that wouldn't matter but thats almost double the miles on such a low mile car.

Previously Bill Noon commented that a lot of the 288 GTO's got flipped when they were new. The car would see some very hard miles early on before being flipped. Then the car once sold would become a potential concern only for the new owner who had to deal with any 'issues' that followed.

Note that GTO odos show kms not miles so the translation could be the reason.

There was no public comment, or private detail from me. You can check with others, such as noted Ferrari Historian Marcel Massini to see if he has pertinent information.

    Velour? Good heavens!

I know these were eighties-era cars, but. . . velour?!

(I've only seen one GTO close-up in person, and I was so busy admiring the external lines and the engine bay that I forgot to look closely at the seats. Always just assumed they were leather, like the Daytona.)

Cheap & cheerful. Someone pointed out that the strips were nomex but the jury is out on that one.

I didn't remember where I read the inserts are Nomex and searched my books and magazines until I realized it was in this thread, posted by you in '07. See your posts #198 and #546:

A cloth-like material usually used in racing suits. Very light, stays cool and is pretty durable.

On a side note, kinda doubt the GTO inserts were Nomex. If so very surprised they faded. Nomex is pretty fade resistant usually. I had red Nomex racing seats in an old Miata I had with a 5.0 Ford engine. Never had the top up, and it sat in the sun for years at tracks. Never faded one bit. I think the F40 seats are Nomex though....

Nomex's most important quality is its fire protection.

Yup, hence why it is used in racing suits.
