I came across this article plus ad in an Australian magazine. I really laughed at those names! While I think the Ferrino is horrid, I kinda like the bug 911 conversions! The cabrio would be fun to bomb around the beach in. Imagine that with a baja bug suspension! I've got it. The 911 (not 930) nose on a cabrio. Great fun on the beach!
O.K., now I have to find the pictures from an old issue of Kit Car magazine (early 1980's) that highlighted a guy that custom built a Ferrari 308 GTB-looking body onto his..........(drum roll)..... FORD PINTO! You think that Celica "308" looks bad? You ain't seen nothing yet.
Oh, this is NOT good.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Found the Pinto-based "Ferrari" "GTF"... http://books.google.com/books?id=glKW-Kh-lmcC&pg=RA1-PT26&lpg=RA1-PT26&dq=pinto+based+ferrari+308+kit+car+replica&source=bl&ots=uD_l2Bh8fd&sig=NXLn8o3eb6HwwBf24ow4AYnifzE&hl=en&ei=apbQS8DQHZCE9ATlk902&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=10&ved=0CCkQ6AEwCTgK#v=onepage&q&f=false
I seem to remember seeing it for sale and I'm fairly sure its road legal. You can see it has lights and indicators fitted.
Saw that. There was a lot of cutting done to the Pinto, too. Edit: found the issue and scanned it. 1982's Custom & Rod Ideas Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you for doing so, I still haven't found the color pics & article from an old issue of Kit Car magazine. This (& the Celica version) make the Mera & "some" of the other Fiero-based 308 cars (one called "Stinger" is VERY accurate) actually look good.
Found the ad. in a recent issue of Classic & Sports Car magazine: Furore F1 Replica. Chance to own a F1 on the road. Two seats. Based on Hawke DL19B racing car chassis & running gear. Twin engine. 2 x Kawasaki ZX10, 1000cc engines, so total of 2 litres, 274 BHP in total. Each has its own clutch & gearbox which are linked, throttle control linked so both engines run together. Trully stunning performance, 0-60 is around 3 secs top speed around 170 mph. 22,500 GBP offered by Total Headturners (mostly replicas and kit cars). A lot of words to explain a twin-engined lay-out
That Carrera GT looks like it's built on a Boxster. Look at the glass, the convertible top, and the shape of the rear lid..........look familiar? Definitely Boxster!
I kinda thought that, but the reworked tail pipes threw me off. The body still looks too big for the car...like a gang-bangers pants.
I'll give him 2K for it... could be fun. I'd definitely sell off the 'vette stuff though, and it wouldn't end up with Ferrari shields and scripts on it. Shiny Side Up! Bill
I was over in Hermosa Beach by the Comedy and Magic Club, and saw this outside: I thought to myself, either someone has an OUTSTANDING replica and really likes Jay Leno...or it's his. He performs there every weekend, keeps his stand up skill sharp. Thoughts? Did I see 1 of 36?
