Got up early this morning to watch the race. ****Spolier at the very bottom after a big gap**** If the first race is anything to go by then this years MotoGP should be very entertaining. The new Ducatis are obviously on the money as Hayden was riding extremely well compared to his poor form in 2009. Ben Spies had his first chop and i was surprised to see him doing so well given it's the first race. Top work by him. Dovisioso also a top effort leaving Pedrosa behind (a rare sight). ***SPOILER**** WTF was Stoner thinking crashing out in the first race? Pissed that the cameras didn't catch the footage so i can only assume he simple slid out when entering the corner. On that lap he was running to do a 1.55.3 which was about 1.5 seconds quicker than the rest of the pack. There was no need to push so hard, it was clear he had the race in the bag and just needed to finish. Top work by Lorenzo to come from so far back in the pack. He is so entertaining to watch, so aggressive but when he is in the zone it's like watching a psychotic Rossi as the bike bucks around and resembles nothing of his fluid teammates efforts. 1st Rossi 2nd Lorenzo 3rd Dovisiozo 4th Hayden 5th Spies 6th onwards - Some other blokes....
These are great races to watch, I'll have to be more diligent in checking the guides and/or hoping shown in reasonably sane hours! OT: I watched the GT series from Adelaide yesterday http://www.australiangt.com.au/ and these guys are up to the usual (expensive) carnage. Why can't car racing be like the bikes?
I really enjoy watching the motogp because i have watched a few seasons and know the usual riders performances etc. It's great to see changes each year due to the bikes. Hayden's performance was brilliant so i am hoping this gives him a leg up for this year. I struggle to really stay interested in most car races but i think it's because they are to refined. With bikes, they wobble, shake, run wide, rear wheel gets airborne, slides etc and you know that these things are just insane bulls to ride. I am sure a GT car is also insane to drive but on tv it looks 'easy' if you get my point??? I do enjoy speedweek on SBS when they show all the privateer racing. Always lots of action in the cheapo commodore/falcon races. Actually there was a race i watched ages ago which had this nutter in a Cobra 427 obliterating everyone on the straights then the little Exiges would get him in the corners. Happened every lap and was great to watch. Can't remember what the class was though?
Bastard, I set my HD recorder to start at 5am and the bloody thing turned itself off so no race. Hopefully there's a replay.
Only got to watch the Moto2 race last night, it was bloody brilliant! It's my first viewing of the category (i didn't watch the Qatar race) and i reckon i am now a die hard fan. Such close racing, changing leaders multiple times each lap. Very entertaining. Fell asleep halfway through the MotoGP race as i was wrecked from the weekend. *****SPOILER******* 1.Lorenzo 2.Pedrosa 3.Rossi 4.Hayden 5.Stoner Lorezno managed to catch Pedrosa on the final lap for the win. He now leads the championship from Rossi by 4 points. Hayden looked great again on his Ducati, obviously it's a well sorted bike for him. It's strange to see 2 Ducati's in the front pack!
Great categories for sure.. I need something reliable to record it if miss telecast.. I was wrecked too but not from any hard living or partying lol.
Very happy to see Moto2 is as good as the 250 category was last year. Good ending to the MotoGP, in what seemed like a forgone conclusion halfway through. Hayden with a setup he can ride, this should make for a good season. Top 5 of this this race are all potential champs in my mind. Oh yeah, replay is 7:30 Tuesday on ONE HD
Cheers for that. I had my PC recording it but it stuffed up (yet again) and the file is corrupted. Grrrr. I have no idea why it corrupts the file after finishing???
I normally stay up and watch it live but i was so knackered i couldn't keep my eyes open. Race had 17 laps to go when i timed out. The digital HD Leadtek card is messed up. It records at the wrong time and now corrupts the files. I might just buy a new card. Tour De France is on soon and i watch all stages live + record. Can't afford to miss anything!
Best bit was watching Lorenzo jump into the lake/dam on his parade lap- helmet, leathers and all. Funniest thing I have seen in ages, can't imagine the F1 boys doing it. The Moto GP guys have personality big time.
http://www.digitalnow.com.au/product_pages/TinyTwin.html I use it with mediacentre plugged into my tv. it's my main system. i love it. i thought he was going to drown!!! was really good to see. I liked rossi's comment....he wasn't going to beat them and risk the wrath of the Spanish public! lol.
I was looking at the "edges" of the lake and what appeared to be black plastic, and wondering how we going to climb up what was bound to become a slip and slide. Didn't realise he had such a personality.
Speaking of MotoGP, is anyone going to Phillip Island this year? My wife and i will be riding down from Sydney and staying in Melbourne for the race. We'll ride the bikes over from the city to PI for Saturday and Sunday. I'm psyched. The 1,600km route is pure motorcycling heaven and what riding a motorbike is all about.
