Congrats to Goober and the FBR team. Awesome result considering the conditions. It was one of the wettest targas in many years. Also, it was the longest competitive targa ever. Day 4 was a monster that taxed everyone. To simply finish the event is difficult for both the car and the driver. Great to see a ferrari not only finish, but do so well. Cheers Robbo
to be diplomatic, anyone that crossed the finish line without cheating....won in my books. Great event, the Saturday was in effect longer than Classic Adelaide in total.......the 35+km stages were awesome......the 55km stage...epic To see the carnage and breakdowns was not so good, for those that said we coudlnt do it in a 360ch.........well we did and the car has now run faultlessly in 2 classics, 1 ahtr and 1 targa tas...........thats 6000km..... The car is set up brilliantly, we have solved all the bugs and shortcuts left by that useless pom, he claimed it was his baby........well if thats the way he tends to a car.....what a wanker, and not kindly spoken about to those that have or know of him.......I did drop the issue regarding Brett's car and it taking wayyyyy too long....others agreed that the pom is a tosser......anyway enough of him, we can all read the true pom in action www.pless.com.au/mechanics.htm Back to tas..............its a marathon to finish this event, the moron factor is alive and well with soo many crashes, the breakdowns one can forgive but the manner with which people put life and limb at risk never ceases to amaze me......we got zero media coverage< we were in stealth mode..and once we near the finish i reckon they started to take notice...there are 39 stages of vid to get thru and all will be on You Tube........ nice to meet Robbo, David Gilliver and co, some great people from Classic and many thanks to Alex and Waz and especially Scuderia Fitzpatrick for getting the beast over the line. and yes we had to trailer it in cos we come from Adelaide you dumb pom, you should take some lessons from that ugly woman and shut up occassionally
thanks bud............we feel tired and over the moon, i didnt realide it was such a big event, and it is.......organised to perfection, only sour point.....people getting a podium where they didnt complete or do a stage.....thats cheating in my books, and its a journo to be quite frank........and has a fat bum as well
Run and won for another year. I have to start by saying thanks to Goober putting up with me as ballast again. Also it was great to see a 100% finishing success for the Ferrari marque. What an event though! After watching the various TV vids over the years, and doing a recce, nothing prepares you for the truly mammoth task of completing Targa. The rain and changing conditions throughout the stages really made for treacherous going in places. The 360CH in Goober's careful hands managing to complete the course successfully with complete reliability. It was a stage by stage event. Firstly to get past Sheffield, then Day 1, Day 2 etc. It was great to get to the end after seeing all the carnage through the stages. The stages appear to build in complexity and intensity, appearing to culminate with the morning of Leg 4 where Mole Creek (4.5km) is the warm up for the Cethana (37km)/ Gunns Plains (15km) and Riana (36km) stages, in a combined competitive/transport total distance of 250km prior a lunch break. The 360CH seems to be a good example of a "green" competition car, fuel economy ranging from 18-23 litres/100km over all the stages. I don't think that is too bad, OK, certainly not Priousesque economy, but certainly not too bad on a thrust/economy basis. In addition to Goober for providing the ride thanks must also go to a few other people. Fred, for finally debugging the car and correcting a number of issues from its racinng duty days which appear to have compromised its past reliability. Hopefully now it will just be normal maintenance and age related issues that will require attention. Also, thanks must go to Steve G (Beama) for invaluable advice provided during the recce for the 2009 TT. A lot of which was used this year. I know he isn't able to log in directly, but his advice was greatly appreciated! Thanks Steve (and also thanks to his nav Tony W.) Waz and Alex for trailing around after the car. They didn't have to do a lot, but it is handy knowing that help shouldn't be too far away. It might be a shemozzle but its better than the Classic Adelaide website.......do they still have a website? I recommend anyone who wants to do Targa Tas.........plan, plan, plan, and then plan for contingencies that may never occur, each day it was like "oh what can go wrong today" we spoke kindly to the 360 each morning, thankfully it lasted. I cannot see why CA never did a reccie of the TT event, and I can see why TT is the pinacle event in Tarmac rallying in Aust. Scuderia Fitzapatrick and I even saw a dude bow down as we went by......never saw an Evo or Wrx get that attention. And for two blokes who have zilch idea we didnt do a bad job........at least we didnt end up in hospital.
Congrats Goober. While we wait for your utubes here is the Gallardo on utube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvwssyLyPAs
we got passed on prologue cos the lotus was blocking the Lotus was blocking the road and the gutter was too close to the left hand side of the car, the evo behind us went balls and all cos its thinner.........the evo was the one that hit the telegraph pole the next day!
with race logic prologue, sound messed up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JRmDXHTDt4 Lilydale day 1 stage 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r89i9m-XjRg
