looking for pictures of 458 spider
Aren't we all. Not even any spy shots yet. No official word if its a hardtop convertible or soft. I don't trust any of the photoshop stuff I've seen.
Those patent drawing may be for the 599 convertible. And, just because they patent something doesn't mean they will actually end up doing it. I'm hoping that it's like that but looking at the room between the engine and the rear seat, I think it's going to be tough to squeeze the roof back there. For sure, I don't want them to stretch the chassis just for this. The rear glass needs to be heavily modified and also so do the air intakes. The front pilars of the windshield need modifications for the hold downs. And, I have a feeling the roll bars will be gone in favor or a cleaner pop up style. But, these are all guesses. The fact that they are taking a year between the coupe and convertible makes me think that it will be rather special. But, metal? CF? Fabric? No one is talking.
Bob, I hope they keep it simple like 430 top in Fabric in order to keep weight down and simplicity up.
I don't think the weight will make much difference. If they made a fabric top for the California, it would have been the same. And, heaven knows the 360/430 top is anything but simple -- and it seems to work just fine. I'm more worried about looks than performance. Spiders are really more about that than the ulitimate edge of the envelope. Oh, and it won't be cheap either. Something tells me it's going to be 20% more than the F430 topless option. Why? Because they can. It seems like every option in the 458 has gone up 20% over the F430 -- for practically the same exact stuff. My feeling is we won't see any spy shots for another 6 months. Then, we can do some real speculating!
i'd be willing to bet on the price thingy majig. they will get their money's worth...like you said...because they can huge money is in the 'options'...cosmetic carbon panels for instance... 10k for the entire interior? what did it cost Ferrari to outsource cf production to ACG? 1/10th of that?
Been hearing rumors that the 458 Spider will make a debut at the Paris Motor Show. Any hear anything like this?
